Town Hall Protesters Mock Death of GOP Lawmaker’s Special Needs Daughter

Liberal activists involved in a nationwide effort to disrupt town hall meetings being held by lawmakers for their constituents reached a new low on Wednesday night when Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-NJ) was mocked when he told the unruly crowd about how the death of his special needs daughter informed his decision to amend and vote for the American Health Care Act that was passed by the House earlier this month.

When MacArthur started to tell the story about Gracie, who died two decades ago at age 11, someone yelled “Shame!,” accusing the lawmaker of “using” his daughter’s death to promote his political agenda.

“I will say shame on you right now actually,” MacArthur said. “I’m going to tell you because this affects my perspective on this issue of health care.”

The Congressman offered the “MacArthur amendment” in the GOP bill that now will be taken up by the Senate.

The amendment, in part, offers protections for people with pre-existing conditions and would “create an option for states to obtain Limited Waivers from certain federal standards, in the interest of lowering premium costs and expanding the number of insured persons.”

When MacArthur tried to explain the facts about the health legislation, he was shouted down.

At one point, police were called in to ensure MacArthur’s safety, the ABC-affiliate in New Jersey reported.

Earlier this month, NBC reported on MacAurthur, who worked in the health insurance industry, and the story about his daughter’s health struggles and tragic dealth.

“The two-term moderate, whose district stretches from the Philadelphia suburbs to the Jersey shore, has worked with conservatives to make compromise changes to the once-shelved GOP bill,” NBC reported.

“When asked about his motivation to go out on a limb for the bill, MacArthur hesitated as if he were holding something back,” NBC reported. “Then he cautiously told NBC News that his drive to push the legislation comes from traumatic events in his own family.”

Gracie was the first child born to MacArthur and his wife Debbie. She was born with holoprosencephaly, a rare brain condition. Their daughter was not expected to live but did so. She finally succumbed from complications that included severe seizures when she was 11.

At the time of his daughter’s illness, MacArthur said he had insurance but it did not cover all of her expenses, which totaled more than $1 million, according to NBC.

MacArthur also said when his mother died from cancer when he was a child his family had no insurance and his father worked for years to pay off their medical debt.

He told NBC that his amendment to the health care bill “will help to reduce the cost of insurance because people with high-cost health bills would not be in the private insurance market but instead in a federally- and state-funded high-risk pool, or some other mechanism that states create to cover the more expensive cases” and that that would help drive down costs for healthier people with insurance.

NJ.com reported that New Jersey Citizen Action, which bills itself as a “statewide grassroots organization that fights for economic and social justice,” organized the disruption.

So, mocking the death of a child is okay now, right?

The left is showing just how sick minded they really have become.

I want to barf.

They (the protesters) are not a grassroots organization even though they claim to be. They had no interest in learning anything about anything a G,O.P. Has to say, they just want to cause trouble.

Just as there is an extremist Islam state that continually bomb and kill people around the world and here in the US, there are extreme liberals that perpetuate this type of thing.  And just as we need Islamic people to decry the acts of the extremists, we need the non violent Liberals to publicly decry such acts as in this article.

And you rarely hear anything about Westboro anymore. Why? Because Christians have shut them down.

The motorcycle group called the Patriot riders I think always blocks the Westboro thugs. This is one thing that both conservatives and liberals agree on.

Really?  Amazing the information you ignore or forget:

  1. Washington Post Ridicules Ted Cruz’s Young Daughters a Monkeys

The Attack

The Washington Post not only published this cartoon, Republican Senator Ted Cruz was attacked by the Post for using his own young daughters as “props.” A Post staffer has declared the daughters “fair game.”

ted-cruz-daughters-cartoon

Cruz’s daughters, Catherine and Caroline are 4 and 7 years-old!

Keep in mind, as I mentioned above, that this is the same Washington Post that “assigned one of its foreign affairs correspondents to comb through an archive of columns Lauten wrote for her college newspaper in 2006 and 2007,” after this no-name staffer criticized President Obama’s daughters in a personal Facebook post last year.

In the DC Media, Republican children are fair game, but God help you if you criticize the children of Democrats, even in a personal Facebook post.

Consequence

As of now, the Washington Post is doing what it always does: lying. The cartoon has been removed and replaced with an absurd editor’s note that claims “I failed to look at this cartoon before it was published.” Fine. Maybe Fred Hiatt did not look at the cartoon before it was published, but no one believes the cartoonist has the power to self-publish.

Plenty of WaPo staffers okayed the cartoon, and as of now all of them, including the cartoonist, still have jobs.

  1. CNN Mocks Physical Assault On Bristol Palin

The Attack

CNN obtained audio of Governor Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol reporting an alleged physical assault to the police. If you are anything close to a human being, the recording is objectively harrowing, a frightened young mother describing a brutal physical and verbal assault to authorities.

Before playing the audio, a delighted CNN told its audience to “sit back and enjoy” the audio, and added   that the recording is “quite possibly the best minute and a half of audio we’ve ever come across, come across in a long time anyway.”

The Consequence

We’re talking about CNN here, so obviously there were no consequences. Because the orders to mock Bristol Palin probably came from CNN chief Jeff Zucker, the anchor is still on the air. The network never apologized.

  1. NBC News Attacks Mitt Romney’s Black Grandchild

Almost exactly two years ago, on its cable news outlet MSNBC, NBC News’s Melissa Harris-Perry mocked Mitt and Ann Romney’s infant grandchild, Kieran Romney. His only sin is being black.

You can hear panelist Pia Glenn singing the lyrics to the “Sesame Street” song, “One of these things doesn’t belong here.” After finishing the ditty, Glenn says, “And that little baby, front and center, would be the one.”

Dean Obeidallah then attacks the child as token, “”I think this picture is great. It really sums up the diversity of the Republican party, the RNC. At the convention, they find the one black person.”

The Consequence

Melissa Harris-Perry still has her own show and Dean Obeidallah’s career took off as a result. He is now a regular contributor at the Daily Beast and an on-air contributor at — where else? — CNN.

  1. The Atlantic Serially-Smears Bristol Palin as the Mother of Trig Palin

The Attack

Throughout the 2008 presidential campaign, in order to freak-show Sarah Palin’s attractive, everyday family, The Atlantic launched a vicious and relentless smear campaign that claimed Palin’s daughter Bristol was the mother of Trig Palin.

Trig Palin is Sarah Palin’s youngest child.

The Conseqeunce

None. In fact, while pretending to debunk it, the DC Media gave the conspiracy a ton of play.

  1. The Daily Beast Mocks Palin Children

After describing Governor Palin as a “GILF” (Governor I’d Like to F***), in 2008, The Daily Beast went on to mock the names of the Palin children before singling out Bristol:

I was eager to see whether Bristol would follow in her parents’ creative-naming footsteps or pick the kind of mass-marketed name favored by other teenage moms: Kayden, say, or Ashton. Tripp is, well, kind of trippy, and certainly unfortunate in view of his paternal grandma’s recent drug arrest. But it’s a more creative choice than those made by other famous young moms: Jamie Lynn Spears’ Maddie Briann, for example, or Charlotte Church’s Ruby Megan.

Its only real problem may be that it seems less like the independent choice of the baby’s young parents and more like the continuation of an established family dynasty.

The Consequence

Nobody ever faces consequences at The Daily Beast for anything.

  1. Salon Mocks George W. Bush’s Daughters as Drunks

The Attack

The 2001 headline, sub-headline, and photo say it all:

The first family’s alcohol troubles

President Bush downplayed his own drinking problem and hid a DUI. Now his daughters are making news for underage drinking. Is there a connection?

the_first_familys_alcohol_troubles

The Consequence

Joan Walsh, the author of the attack, is a regular fixture on cable news.

ADDED — 7. CNN’s Dana Bash Laughs at Senator Scott Brown’s Kids Being Called ‘Prostitutes’

The Media Research Center’s Tim Graham was good enough to remind me of this

***

If there was a button the DC Media could press that would destroy Republicans and their children, the only fight would be over who gets to press it.

LGS, this is flan your asking! hahahaha It's just one of her many typical, rude, one-liners we all have come to expect from her. To expect more from her is just asking too much of her.

Well, that is why she doesn't KNOW. She chooses to remain ignorant of any information she doesn't want to admit to. It's right there in black and white.

And considering how many pictures were in that article, if it's too long to read, I think I know why flan always stuck with pre-school programs.

I actually don't CARE about the article.

And keeping 50+ preschoolers entertained for 35 minutes...I doubt most people could do that.

You give yourself far too much credit and others not nearly enough! So typical.

You know ZILCH, as usual.

Why did one of my outreach contacts tell the library director they no longer wanted visits? Because if it's not ME, it's not good.

Oh, and then there was the other head of the preschool program who told my boss that I was the best librarian she had seen in 15 years.

Considering I've never posted these specifics before, you must be psychic.

hahahahahaha

Yes, I WAS fired. I'm old, and they wanted young.

Their loss.
