I am laughing out loud at the attitudes displayed here...or I would be, if it wasn't so depressing.
Maybe y'all could form a new country? Only white straight Christians would be allowed.
flan
Wow. Very inflammatory. And baiting. What a terrible thing to say.
Oh, puh-lease.
Everyone knows the leanings of this board. And there is NOTHING wrong with being white OR straight OR Christian...until you start excluding those who aren't.
flan
And people who weren't white, straight or Christian were excluded from this event how?

Geesh. If you were speaking to someone flan and they just stomped away on the middle of a sentence because they disagreed with your, you would think them horribly rude and disrespectful.
I don't believe you wouldn't.
"Touchdown Jesus" is visible from inside the stadium
The stadium is known for its view of "Touchdown Jesus", a nickname given to the large mural entitled The Word of Life by Millard Sheets of the resurrected Jesus.[11]Installed in 1964 on the Hesburgh Library, the mosaic wall looms over the stadium. The mural's nickname is derived from Jesus's upraised arms, which are similar in appearance to the raised arms of a referee signifying a touchdown. The expansion of the stadium in the late 1990s partially obscured the view of the mural from the playing field. The Word of Life mural was a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Howard V. Phalin of Winnetka, Illinois.
Unfortunately, only flan can answer that (and we all know how much she LOVES to answer questions . . . not) since it was she who made the reference. I just googled and posted the info so others would know that how flan's brain works will always be a mystery.

The mural on the library wall is beautiful
My brother went to Notre Dame back in the day and we visited for games often while we lived in Indiana.
I could spend hours in the library. And it's a beautiful campus
So you can see the Jesus mural from the football field. Ok that's relevant because?
Oh wait....

Because the fact that Christians exist is an affront to many, and the fact that they dare to have anything visual related to their religion is a violation of atheist and liberal "rights" to be free from anything Christian everywhere.

Every religion can have its banner flown but when a Christian anything is seen, well, it's like borax on a leviathan or holy water on a demon.

And yet, because of Islam and other religions migrating here, we have to do away with what was and is part of our history in the making of this country.
And the only assumption that can be made from flan's litany of posts is that having a mural of Jesus is in and of itself exclusionary to anyone but straight, white Christians.
Mind you - most Hispanics are Christian with about half of them being Catholic, which is a higher percentage than the country over all. And blacks have a higher percentage per population identifying Christian than whites do.
So, where is the racial divide here?
As for sexuality - this is a Catholic university, and yet they not only do not discriminate, they offer services to the gay community on campus.
So where is the sexual orientation exclusion?

"...as the Trump administration’s “policies have impacted the humanity of certain graduates.”
Exactly WHAT POLICIES have impacted them at all?
Good question.
I'd bet ya a steak dinner none of them could tell you.

"Our members lived in South Bend when Mike Pence was governor," the group said in a statement. "We know all too well how his policies endangered or caused direct harm to public education, health care, women's rights, the environment, LGBTQ individuals, immigrants and refugees, reproductive rights, local infrastructure, the economy of our state, and more."
Instructions were quite simple: "Sit with a friend in your college," read an invitation titled "Taking Back Our Commencement."
"Stand up and walk out once Mike Pence starts to speak," it directed. "Respectfully and quietly exit the stadium."
So they listed some generic topics of grievances, but of course we wont ever get to see the details of exactly what policies caused so much harm to them.
Not really. Of the 3 in my state, the one I'm most familiar with (and the largest) now has part time hours. Many jobs lost, thank goodness...
Yet ANOTHER reason why I would never live there.
flan
Well, here in TN, you can get EVERY SINGLE THING that PP offers through our local health clinics. Most of the time for free. With the exception of abortions. So here, they only reason you would frequent PP is to get an abortion. And again, thank goodness, there aren't enough procedures to keep them open full time. Hopefully, they will just go out of business soon. It's look more and more like that every day...

Me and my kids went to watch the air force band play at Arlington one memorial holiday and President Obama gave a speech. Even though neither of us liked him or voted for him we didn't walk out or protested. We respected the office of the presidentsy.

Didn't T say that Islam was a great religion?
I highly doubt Trump ever said Islam was a great religion. He has not visited a mosque. He did visit the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem yesterday.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
I visited the White House a few times when Clinton was in office. I waited for him to leave and watched him as he was driven out the gate (so we could go in to the West Wing) and I didn't throw eggs. He was the President. I was still in awe of his position of power. I've gone to rallies where Al Gore spoke. I never liked Al Gore. I didn't heckle him. He was the VP.
I never put myself in a situation where I would be around O, except for the inauguration of Trump. I'm not sure I could have prevented myself from throwing up.

He didn't say it was a great religion just how he didn't tout any religion. What his message was is we have lot of religions and our one denominator is rid us of the the terrorism. and 40 , 40! Country leaders cheered him and celebrated him. He has it right, no more U.S. soldiers fighting wars in the mid east is high numbers, No more trying to change the politicis or ideals of the mid east, simply asking for help in a global fashion to combat these terrorists. Simple and brilliant. I also read that the Mid east had no respect for the US in the past 10 years, they are motivated that Trump was elected. That tells you something about the global view of Trump.

The rest of the world is thrilled the USA finally has a real leader, someone with a backbone.

No crap! O did so much damage the rest of the world just shook their heads and wrote us off. Can you believe the king of Saudi invited 40 other heads of state to meet Trump? They were celebrating him. Of course, due to his strength, they need strength like we need strength.
