Stereotyping. We all do it. If you are young, then you are lazy and entitled. If you are older, you are set in youor ways and unwilling to change. If you are old, you are not up to date on technology. If you are fat, you are lazy and overeating. Too thin, not pretty enough, not nice enough, not up to my expectation of who you should be.

Can people just judge others on who and what they actually are instead of sterotyping?

If by personal insults you mean the ones that VOR hurled at me over the weekend on the Random politics thread, then yes. But that only got her a temp ban. Had I attacked her marriage and called her a whore simply because my husband earns more than I then I would have been permanently banned. I think you realize this.

To be fair, FS, I think the question you mentioned was her comment with regard to bashing boards and I think she meant bashing members (of another board) which she addressed, mentioning to scroll up. Unless there was another question I missed?

The last board I moderated we used to troll our members every once in a while and it was hilarious. Normally it would only work on the newbs but it was ALWAYS done in good fun and everyone always enjoyed the outcome. Of course, the reason it worked so well is cuz there were hundreds of folks that would be on it every day, so it was always lively when we engaged in a little trolling. It went something like this..


A moderator would start a new thread with the title something like: "One two three not it"
And then we would wait for other users to post "not it". thing is we would have a number in mind and whoever's post hit that number, that person was banned for 24 hours. A lot of people would know up front that it was a ban game and they would STILL roll the dice and post wondering if they would be the one to be tagged.

Another would be the moderator starting a new thread like: "Second page ban" and then whomever's post wound up forcing a second page to the thread would get the 24 hour ban. thing is, no one knew what the thread settings for the moderator, so just because YOUR setting put bob's post on the second page, didnt mean that is what the moderator saw.

Anyway... all this talk of boards and bans made me think of the old days.
