A very muggy, moist day around here. T-storms expected later today. Laundry is on the to-do list. That's about it!

Happy Father's day! Happy BD to Wayne. I think it is hot & muggy here too. I don't know for sure since I'm not opening the door. My A/C is struggling to keep up so I'm keeping the place as sealed up as I can.

We are supposed to get storms later. I'm hanging out with dad until it's time for them to leave. Then I'm meeting the boy for dinner.

This is the next to the last time dad has to leave. His retirement is official on July 1. Mom has been going with him to pack. When they leave NY on June 30, that will be the last time. Dad told me they are leaving on the 30th, but won't be home until July 2. I don't know what he has planned, but mom doesn't know about it. It's cute he's planning a couple days for them.

 So coincidental FWM, yesterday was my father's birthday.  Growing up it seemed as though is bday always fell on Father's Day.

So I blew off the Grad party.  I brought a card and gift over last night.  Today I went with a former BF to a car show.  He has an antique fire truck.  It was fun, but hot.  Holy cow I chased the shade around. I am not sitting here in my air conditioned house patting myself on the back for having central a/c installed last year.

It went from sunny with a very nice breeze to sunny with a hot wind.

I have a biiiiiiiiiig owie! Laundry in the apt bldg I'm in is in the basement. Unfortunately, I have to go outside, down two flights of wooden steps and around the yard to get to the basement door. So, after the rain stopped, I went down to get the first load out of the dryer and put a third load in the washer. I took four steps on the wooden stairs, slipped and down I went. Slid almost all the way down the first flight, which is about 20 steps. My arm was twisted and stuck on top of the banister while the left buttock and both legs were scraped and sore as all get out. This is gonna hurt BIG TIME tomorrow. Thankfully, I'm okay but it could've been much worse.

I really need to find a different apartment that's more suitable for someone getting older. lol *sigh*

Are there seniors only apartments there?

We have a couple seniors only complexes.

Everything on one level, apartments are ADA suitable, they each come with private porches and patios, and have gardening spots. Washers and dryers, dishwashers.

They have policies in place about noise and visitors. 

They really are nice.

 Oh my goodness! Report that to the apartment management. They could add some safety strips or something. I'm glad you weren't more seriously injured.

Lily, there are senior apartments in the area but they're very small. I'm not ready to downsize yet in order to move in to one of them. Nor do I feel I'm old enough for one even though chronologically I am. Perhaps in another 30 years. hahaha And there is no dishwasher here.

SB, I've made requests to the owner regarding the outdoor steps (particularly in winter) and lighting at the basement door since there is none and it's in the back of the building in a very dark yard. But, nothing. It's a married couple who owns the building with five units in it. The bottom three can access the basement through their apartments but the two of us on the second floor must go outside and down the stairs. We've complained but it falls on deaf ears.

It's okay, IKWTDS, I laughed too after I was back in the apt and stopped hurting for a little. I can just picture how I looked in slow motion. lol

I really need to just find another place but decent apartments here are few and far between. I'm on a few waiting lists but waiting is going to kill me at this rate. hahaha

in the next day or so, take pictures of them
(with the front page of your local newspaper
somewhere in the background) so that you
can document what happened to you. I think
it's inexcusable that they haven't put safety
strips on the stairs.

 Oh, great idea! Thank you! I agree, it IS inexcusable. They were so great telling me how involved they are with their properties and making sure all is good. Yep, I fell for it. There are strips on the inside stairs at the front entrance but none where they're needed on the back outside stairs. I've been in this apartment just over a year and in all that time, I've seen them here twice . . . once to fix the washer and another time to park in the back yard to go to a festival in town. That's it.

I binge season 5 last week.

I didn't think I'd like OITNB at first, but it really does have good character development.

I now have to wait until next year for the new season.

Anyone try 13 Reasons? I'm curious but not. You know?

Really? Interesting. Thank you! Nope I'm 61 but just because I'm "old" doesn't mean I have to grow up! lengua1.gif Life is too short. I remember when my Grandparents were my age and I thought back then they seemed so old. They didn't play with us grands or really seem "young at heart".  I think my generation is not like them in that respect.
