So we are taking care of Sonny's BFF this week. T is very upset that his family is gone. He growls at me when I try to get him on his leash. I tried bringing him to our house last night thinking he would be happier with others around. He broke his leash and ran back to his house. This is going to be a long week.
Good Morning!

When my parents moved they left Natalie with a neighbor for a couple weeks until they could get their wall built. Natalie knew the neighbors, and their little dog was her boyfriend, but she was miserable and took it out on the neighbors, even trying to chew a hole in their garage door. Fortunately, we are still friends with that neighbor, and Natalie was reunited with my parents and lived many years, happily, in her new home. But I saw first hand how "change" can change a dog's demeanor.

These neighbors are very good to us. And they asked if we could dog sit for the week. Normally their dog is very good, good tempered etc. I never envisioned he would be like this. I won't do it again for sure.

Perhaps you could just go over to their house and feed the dog next time?
For a week, we could just use one of those dog food dispensers and leave. Natalie had a doggie door into the garage where she could sleep and remain cool/warm during the day/night, and a thing on the hose faucet outside that she licked and fresh water would come out. But she was one of those dogs that only ate when she was hungry and did not stuff her face just because it was there so we could do that. My grandparents' dog would eat until the food was gone then throw it all up. Ugh.
A beautiful start to the day here. Warm already with 67* and a very slight breeze. Not a cloud in the sky . . . so far!
Settling in to watch the Men's Final at Wimbledon!!! Woohoo! Federer and Cilic. Should be a good match. I'm thinking Fed will run away with it.
Going to see an apartment this afternoon. It's a two story, one-bedroom in a converted old barn on 30 acres and a one-acre pond. Sounds idyllic. The owner told me there is a cemetery dating back to the revolutionary war that's located just before their driveway to the property. I never knew anything like that was in this area.

I agree with FNW, go to their house. When we go on vacay the neighbors girls come to our house three times a day and the dogs do great, they get to sleep in their own beds and be around familiar smells.

Or was it a bad five minutes that you milked all day?

DD is gone this weekend and she is the one who is supposed to be taking care of the dog. This week she will be spending large amounts of her day hanging at their house. He was better this afternoon when Sonny and went down there. He even hung in the yard for about 20 minutes as opposed to running right back inside after peeing. And no growling today!

I am happy to say our pets survived this last week while we were gone. Extra food and water in Whisker's cage, a 7 day food cake in the fish bowl, and away we went.
Got DD13 back from camp on Friday - she slept all day, and then yesterday we spent the day doing her laundry, shopping and packing her back up to leave again this morning. She left for a mission trip to repair houses in the Hurricane damaged parts of NC.

I've done the mission trip for a couple of years with the youth group at the church I belonged to at the time. It was always an awesome experience for everyone involved. Kudos to her for doing it, LL.
Well, I went to see the apartment and absolutely love, love, LOVE the property. So peaceful and beautiful. But, the apartment was just a bit too small and had virtually no storage at all. One small closet for coats in the LR and one slightly bigger closet in the bedroom. That's it. If it had another room, I could've used that for storage but sadly, it just won't work. I'm bummed. I had high hopes for this one.
We stopped at the cemetery that is located on the entrance to the property. Some awesome grave markers there dating back to being born in the mid 1700s. There was also a Capt. from the Revolutionary War buried there. Amazing to think of standing on ground that those people stood on more than 250 years ago.
Spent the rest of the day helping DS and DIL move oldest GD out of an apartment she shared with a friend and moved her back home. Then, home to relax.
