Tips?  I see there are three parks there....I have no idea where to start.  Anyone have experience visiting these places?

Loved it. You don't need to do the small kids section since your kids are older, go straight to Harry Potter.

So there appears to be two parks, and both look to have HP rides. Is this true?

Yes. And there is a train from one to the other. There is a third park, now, but it's a water park. So, going there will depend on weather. We are currently planning a trip for February.

Great! That's not something I could find at the Disney parks, a train to take you back/forth. I'll admit I didn't look too hard, but this is all so overwhelming to me.

Yes, the volcano park is now open. My brother said it's new. We are going in November, and it will be open. So whether we go will depend on weather, too.

The train is amazing. DD said it was just what she imagined it would be.  I so wish the Volcano park was there when I was.

FNW - where are you planning on staying? If you stay at the higher end Universal hotels (3 of them), your express passes are included in the price. If you stay at the less expensive ones, you'd have to upgrade. So far, the higher end hotels are $500-$1000 more for our 4 night stay. We need to price the upgrade in passes to see what is better.

I have to say that I loved the resort we stayed in for the week.  It was a roomie condo. And my brother shuttled us back and forth to the parks.  But the traffic was awful during the morning and at the end of the day when people were leaving the parks and getting dinner. If I were to do it again I would stay near the park in the hotels, pay the extra cost.

We always prefer to stay on sight when possible. It is worth it.

We're staying at Embassy Suites near the Convention Center. They offer free shuttle to the parks.

You can actually walk to SeaWorld from there. I did a few years ago.

It's a bit of a walk mostly because you are starting at the end of the parking lot and it's a huge parking lot!

I think the hotel offers a shuttle to Sea World as well, but I'm not positive.
