I think I have at least talked them both out of the gas powered bikes. We're going to start with a Razor MX500 battery powered one. I still might have a heart attack.

I can't even get my boys interested in riding their bikes. I hired someone to teach them to ride on a flat parking lot and it was a success, but they haven't ridden since. Even though our neighborhood is hilly and not conducive to riding, there are bike paths all around Reston and they just aren't interested. Could care less. Same with their razor scooters. They collect spider webs in the garage.

See, Jojo wanted a motorcycle, so we told her she had to get really good on her bicycle first. She rides her bicycle every day to practice and get good. She has done really well.

Seven isn't too young to get them started. But if she is as small and tiny as you say, it could be a problem until she gains a bit of weight and grows some. I say go for it when you think she's ready and can hold it upright. Managing a motorcycle isn't easy but it sure is a ton of fun to ride! Nothing like having the breeze on your knees.

Personally i think that is too young for a motorcycle. However if you are getting her a toy one that doesn't go very fast, then i think that is fine. But, i would not put her on anything that can achieve significant speed. We had a mini moto and it could go up to 20mph and that is pretty fast for a kid.
With the right gear, right bike, she would be fine.
There are 3 and 4 year olds competing on motocross all over the country.

I just got around to looking up that bike, LL.
It's recommended for riders 14 and older.
It doesn't sound like Jojo is near old enough, to ride this bike.
The Razor MX350 is a little smaller.
Even so, it is recommended for riders 13 and older.
Oy, I'm glad I'm not the one making this decision.
(Buy a good helmet. And a leather jacket and leather pants. Just an idea.)
Look around to see if there are any local motocross groups. Children start as young as four around here.
They will have some advice for you and be able to tell you about safe and legal places to take her riding.

hahaha I only have one scar from road rash. 14 stitches. One broken bone, my collar bone when I was so little and rode the wagon down the hill and ran it into the massive oak tree. hahaha Thought Mom was gonna have a heart attack. We both survived.

I agree. see if you can find a club to join or a class to take. When they stress the importance of safety and gear etc, it tends to go over better than just from the parents.
Around here, kids are riding dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, tractors, whatever as soon as you can walk (and sometimes earlier lol).
And you never know, she may hate it. I was all gung-ho to ride a motorcycle, and it turns out it terrified me. who knew?

I've broken my right arm, both thumbs, my tail bone 5 times.
Have had stitches 3 times, 50 stitches.
Spained both ankles so many times I almost needed surgery but I wore a brace for almost 6 months.
Tons of other scars.

They ALL do that. The "recommended age" is a joke. A 14 year old is waaaayyyyyy to big for that bike.

Sounds like her energies need channeled and better they are channeled into a small "motorcycle" than something else. My DD was a daredevil as well. We "gave in" on something small that we could deal with and she felt like it was a big deal. It helped her get out that energy and she never escalated into anything bigger. It was enough for her. Sometimes if you say no to everything, it creates more issues than saying yes to something that you could live with.

Caitlyn was adamant she was going to have a motorcycle, a real one. I told her to go for it.
She found out how high insurance is and has put it off.
I guess I don't really see the problem, we rode them, my dad has always had a bike. Speed is a common drug in my family.

My father had bikes growing up, too, and I rode on the back around the block with ...NO HELMET! Oh the horrors! That being said, we did not leave the neighborhood. But we did go fast. I would ride dirt bikes on my uncle's ranch without a helmet, too, but I didn't do anything stupid on it.

At one point we thought she was going to run right into the woods, but then she turned, drifted and pulled herself out of it. She was a natural on it. Which is scary.

Motocross is huge here in Nebraska. The kids start as young as age 4. It's actually a life style for a lot families. They build race tracks on their own acreages.
There are a lot of wild children in our state. They all seem to survive just fine. A broken bone, fracture or road rash will happen doing about anything anyway.
