Holy crap, they had to find the source of the shots, he was shooting from a room over-looking an open air concert. So far, 50 are dead, 200 injured. He was identified as 64 year old Stephen Paddock. His girlfriend, Marilou Danley is being considered an accomplice.
This was seriously pre-planned. He obtained a hotel room over looking the concert.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I heard he lived in an adult community 80 miles away. His companion works as a waitress in a high roller area of the hotel. Not sure if she worked Mandalay or not, but her social media (which has since been taken down) showed her checking in there. She also had a platinum card at Mandalay. They think he shot out the window of his room first. He fired over a city block away at the crowd. The police killed him.
the most difficult type of attack to interdict--a lone shooter, above the target area with no warning to the innocents until the shooting starts--judging from the audio, full auto weapon(s)as well--he was going for maximum effect rather than aimed fire--kudos to the law enforcement/first responders, rip to the deceased and prayers to the injured/wounded

It is so strange, he isn't affiliated with any religious, political or military past, lives in a gated retirement community no social media, nothing to even suspect him a psychopath.
the sort of guy who wouldn't cause a blip on anyone's radar--these people are nearly impossible to defend against unless you catch/kill them near or in the moment--does anyone else sense a remarkable escalation in violence within our culture over the last five or six years? lord, look around us--violence is everywhere--college campuses, schools, sporting events, malls, " peaceful " assemblies, etc.--in my own life, has never been a time when concealed carry for self/other's defense was pretty much essential--and not so much to defend against foreign/stranger threats but home-grown threats such as antifa, blm, etc. along with the increasingly brazen hoodrats and thugs
makes me sad for our country

Tammy Bruce is making some excellent points. She says we are so bogged down with guns guns that we dont ask the questions like what kind of prescription drugs? Many adults are now on one or more drugs like opiates, etc which can alter thinking. Just food for thought.
It's a horrible, horribly tragedy and the victims are in my prayers. When I woke up to the news my first thought was my cousin and his wife who are in Vegas right now. They are actually staying at the Mandalay on the 23rd floor. They were not at the concert and are okay, thank goodness. I can't imagine the terror of hearing those shots and not knowing where they're coming from so you can get away!
I am far from a conspiracy theorist, but I find this whole thing very bizarre. From what I read, everyone who knew this man are dumbfounded that he did this. His brother said he had "never been an avid gun guy." He had no military experience and yet bought all these guns, modified them to be fully automatic, and set up a sniper's nest in the hotel to kill people at this concert? Even the gun shop owner's who met him said there was no red flags and he passed all background checks. I realize that some mentally ill can be very convincing at NOT being mentally ill but I really feel that there is more to this story than we'll every know.
I disagree with Sheldon. The investigation has really only begun. So to assume we know all the facts is absurd. On the contrary when they are too quick to pronounce it as open and shut then that does make me wonder. Like Oklahoma city, there was more to that.
All or at least most of these shootings have their roots with drugs. The gang shootings have their roots with drug dealing, people such as this one, if they dig far back enough, will be found to have taken LSD in the 60's or smoked a lot of dope, or other such drugs. Long term drug use changes your brain function.
