Good morning! I'm working both jobs today. Won't get home until around 10:30 tonight. It's gonna be a long one! Tomorrow, some friends and I are going to an Apple Festival about two hours away. Should be a fun time.

That's about it for me. Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm back! I went to work this morning and let myself in. I was met by the asst mgr of the branch and another woman. Yep, I got called into the office and was giving a paper stating I was insubordinate. Why? Well, the perfume of course. hahaha It didn't seem to matter that I haven't worn any since Friday of last week. And that I've only been in the office one day this week, Monday. I've been farmed out to other branches all week and a day of training. So, here I sit . . . gainfully unemployed. I'm truly at a loss for words. The handbook states we're allowed to wear it.

Oh well . . .

OH wow. That doesn't sound right. I am so sorry. Can you file a wrongful termination action? Would it be worth it?

Thanks! I thought about the wrongful termination action since the handbook clearly states perfume is permissible but not sure it's worth it. I've only been there since the end of August. I was still in the probationary period and I can file for unemployment. Not sure who I'd speak to about a wrongful termination case. And in every other branch I've worked in for this bank it's not been a problem to wear it. All the women do.

Probationary usually just deals with job performance nothing else.  I think since it is in the handbook it is wrongful termination.  Contact the Dept of Labor and ask to talk to someone.

It may be worth filing  if nothing  else to get insubordination  removed from your record.

Well, I thought it was job performance based as well. This really has me perplexed because it is clearly not forbidden in the handbook and in every other branch were I was placed, it wasn't an issue. I may give dept of labor a call and see where I stand with it.

At my age, I'm ready to retire hopefully next year, I really don't care if it says insubordination on my record. lol It's not a big deal to me at this point.

I think the part that bothers me more than anything about this situation is they have no proof that she's allergic. Like they did not require her to provide a doctor's note or medical proof that she's soooooooo allergic to anything. I mean shouldn't that be something they require if they're going to restrict such things in one particular branch but not all branches?

Is allergic the right term? She certainly didn't break out in a rash / hives or have any trouble breathing at all.

I have a friend who isn't allergic to scents per se, but does get migraines when exposed to strong scents.

Strong scents affect me as well with headaches / sinus issues depending on the scent. But this woman's seemed to only appear when the boss was around.

Well, I liked the work / job, especially when I got sent to our sister branch near where I plan to move. But I really didn't like my co-worker at what was my home branch.

In speaking with a friend who is well versed in this type of termination, he said that it is definitely wrongful termination because there were other opportunities available within the company that could have been utilized such as transferring me to the sister branch. So, I've contacted Dept of L & D and am awaiting a call back. Could take a week though.

Bet the Co worker is sleeping with the boss.

Oh well. You were unsure about the job, right?

This is when you look for the open window.

I survived the Jojo Siwa event last night. 1000 little girls all excited to get their picture taken with Jojo Siwa!

It was actually organized very well, I was quite impressed.

Lily, I doubt she's sleeping with the boss. The boss is married and female. Co-worker is just a really good manipulator / actress. There is always an open window! I know it'll be okay.

That's right, SB, bad karma . . . very bad karma will be bestowed on them.  whitch_doctor.gif

LL, sounds like it was fun! Glad you had a good time and survived!

FIL has my truck running for now. Fuel pump arrives on Tuesday. He thinks it was just clogged but says it'd be wise to replace it.

As much as a PITA FIL can be, he sounds as if he really has your best interests at heart.

Married and female doesn't mean anything these days.

I know, I've been watching too much tv.

I know you'll be fine.

He does. He likes knowing that we're safe. He also likes being needed so he's rather enjoying himself finding little stuff here and there to work on on my truck.

He's gotten much better over the years. I fulfill his need for attention in a positive manner - cars, computers, etc. He'll yell at me now and then but gets shut down immediately.

So today didn't work out as a day off, I've worked 5 hours and still going. I have PTO I need to burn before the end of the year and the opportunity to do so is quickly running out. I have a ton of work coming my way in a few weeks. GRRR

chef, your FIL sounds so much like my father. He needs to be needed. So when he does little projects around the house I let him, and thank him. He knows DH is not a handy guy, so he steps in. He asks first, because he doesn't want DH to get upset. DH would rather not have to worry about such things, so he's more than happy to let my father take care of it. He also knows dad needs to feel needed.

You are a good DIL!

Yep, that's FIL. He really likes that I'm into cars too so he can talk on and on to someone who actually cares. DH isn't into cars. FIL also likes computers and cooking. I'm into cooking but not so computers. But, I'll happily sit and listen to him talk about computers and learn some stuff along the way.
