The list seems to get longer every day. You finish one thing and two more things get added.
I did get mom in a cleaning mood. There are two cabinets that's needed cleaning out for years. I keep everything else cleaned up and out, but these two have her things she just can't get rid of.

Eh, GG isn't huge on my large family. It overwhelms him. Jeez, it overwhelms me. So I'll just take a break. Plus? I get asked for 1/2 the meal. You are on your own!
Well, ordinarily by now, I would've started meal planning and making shopping lists. But, I have no kitchen so no cooking to do. My family is going to go out somewhere to eat. My in-laws will likely make a Thanksgiving meal.
This is my first thanksgiving that I won't be involved in any cooking. I'm really bummed out and kind of mad but I'll get over it. We are last minute going to Montana to visit MIL. I may bring something to cook up anyway.

Well, the store where I work PT was offering turkeys (frozen, which I'm not keen on but) at 29 cents a pound. So, I bought an 11 lb one and have it in the freezer. If my DS and his family keep going the way they are lately, I'll be having Turkey day by myself and that would suit me just fine! I don't mind cooking a bit for myself. I'm actually looking forward to some turkey and filling and all the fixings just for me. Of course, the turkey is the only thing I've gotten so far. hahaha I'll wait until I'm all moved in and they go shopping. Not hauling all that along when I don't have to now.

I use Thanksgiving as a deadline to get things done around the house. I haven't even thought about the food really.

Last year I split the cooking with SIL. That worked out really well, we will probably do that again.
Haven’t decided who will host yet. None of us really have a large enough house to host the whole family.

as said, last year I did nothing. This year, I am doing everything and I am so excited. Everyone has been warned to stay the heck outa my kitchen
We cook the meat here, and then everyone brings what they want. Mom likes a lot of carbs, one uncle does squash casserole, another does bites and apps, desserts are brought.
No one gets upset, or has their feelings hurt about who does what, where.
Hopefully, if the weather holds, we are going to roast marshmallows that evening.

I'm not making the traditional dinner. We are either going out or grilling steaks. I may be on call because person who signed up for it quit. She was there almost 18 months and managed to weasel out of working every holiday. But it's ok because we are glad to see her go, lol.

If you find you're running out of space in your refrigerator to thaw a frozen turkey, use your cooler! Four days for a 10-12 pound bird. Put the bird in a 13 gallon new trash bag, put it in the cooler, and close the lid. T'giving morning, take it out of the cooler, unwrap, rinse, and proceed with your regular recipe.
You can also use your cooler if you want to brine your turkey.
Lots more room in the fridge!

I just got back from Florida. I guess I can think about it now. I'll cook. It's not my first rodeo, so it doesn't stress me out. I would like to have the Christmas trees up first. No ornaments yet, just lights.
