However, on Sunday, I fell down the stairs into my garage. It's only 2 stairs, so I'm not seriously hurt, but I'm banged up and bruised and sore today.

I'm going on a 3 days retreat Fri-Sunday, but this is actually enforced vacation. I am required to take a full week every year, and I have not yet taken one this year. So, I am off from now until next Tuesday. I plan to wrap, finish shopping, organize and decorate.

Right now is the most normal I felt since Friday. Felt yucky this morning and by late this afternoon I started to feel normal again. Decorated the house for Christmas and all I have to do is decorate the tree.

That is normal these days, not desperate. I joined a walking/hiking club and we do so much more. It is so fun and such nice peeps.

I have recently lost my best friend (she didn't die, she became a putz), and it's rather like mourning. I'll be in the market for a new one soon. Want to move closer?

Thanks, Vette. It's been coming a while. Constant last minute cancellations without explanation, etc. - including a trip we had planned together. She called ME last week and wanted to do something together. We talked about it, said Friday or Saturday afternoon would work. She said she'd check with her husband about Friday, and then NEVER CALLED ME BACK. Still hasn't. Nothing. Why did she call in the first place? I don't get it.
This has been a bad habit of hers for too long - expecting me to be there when she wants, but being rude and inconsiderate otherwise. After she cancelled our trip at the last minute, this past week was the last straw. I'm done.

It's not pathetic, vette. My closest friend lives 1 1/2 hours away. I get it. I would love to have a friend close by, but I am a bit of a homebody and most people don't get that. My BFF in Cali does, as does my PA BFF, because they are both someone who, like me, don't need to see someone on a regular basis to be friends with them.

I get it. I’ve got you over there and my other close friend is in Florida. I have someone here who used to be a super close friend, but she’s too wrapped up in her boyfriend to have time for me anymore.

No immediate help, BUT. Next Fall (Aug. or
Sept) look for advertisements about Square
Dance lessons in your area. They're fun,
wholesome, inexpensive (really cheap), and
will introduce you and DH to some of the
nicest people you'll ever meet. The couples
are comfortable enough in their relationships
that the husband can partner another woman
without the wife becoming jealous.
The lessons are typically held in a church hall
or a school gym, and generally run during the
school year. Once you learn the basic moves,
(called Mainstream), you can dance all over
the US and meet the most wonderful people.
Many times, couples will go out for coffee after
a dance/lesson (or adult beverages), and they
always split the tab. One cardinal rule is: NO
drinking before a dance (or lesson). Gentlemen
are encouraged to wear long sleeved shirts (who
wants to offer a lady a sweaty arm for an alemand
left?). Every club has "Angels" - people who have
graduated a year or so before, and who offer gentle
instruction and encouragement to the students.
I've made some lasting friendships through square
dancing - hope you will too!
