Matt Lauer fired from NBC! Can't post link from phone.
Also, can't find either of the two bottles of creamer I bought a few days ago. DD put groceries. I'm guessing they got left behind. I wonder what else is missing.
It is wild, but not surprising. Nothing surprises me these days when it has to do with sexual harassment. It is quite common. And although it's been more than a few years since I've been subjected to it, it was rampant in my early years in the workplace. The best one could hope for was protection, the accused was never punished. Now they are.
I haven't yet heard, how long ago did this stuff occur with Matt?
So now one of my mother's dear friends has a deadly bacteria in her blood, caused by her dogs licking her face. The doctor in Cali was going to put her on antibiotics but the one she needs was not available, so she asked them to forward the prescription to a pharmacy here in Virginia (she has a home in each state and was leaving for VA the next day) but the doctor said it won't make much difference, she can start the antibiotics when she returns to Cali. Not sure what that's supposed to mean.
No, it doesn't. She's interpreting it to mean it's no use, the blood is so far gone with infection, that it won't help. My mom saw her yesterday and said she looked terrible, and had aged greatly since she last saw her a month ago. The optimist in me wants to think it just means it's not that urgent that she can wait a bit. But the whole 'deadly' part would imply otherwise.
I can't believe the doc said it could wait until she comes back to Cali? If it's deadly, shouldn't it be addressed ASAP? What doctor in his right mind wouldn't make the call knowing she'll be in VA and can get them there?

On the same day the giant Christmas tree is being lit outside NBC studios at Rockefeller Center in New York City, the network dumped one of its biggest stars.
“Today” show co-host Matt Lauer was fired Wednesday due to inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace, an incident "Today" honchos said they learned about just two days ago.
Lauer's stunned co-anchor Savannah Guthrie was joined by Hoda Kotb to announce the news on "Today."

"This is a sad morning here at 'Today' and at NBC News," Guthrie said before reading a note from NBC News Chairman Andy Lack.
NBC fires senior executive, who was Matt Lauer’s booker, for 'inappropriate conduct' with women
"Dear colleagues, on Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer," Lack's statement read. "It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company's standards. As a result, we've decided to terminate his employment."
The statement said this is the first complaint regarding Lauer's behavior the company has received "in the over 20 years he's been at NBC News."

"We were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident," the statement said.
Matt Lauer's firing from NBC unleashes Twitter torrent
"I'm heartbroken for the brave colleague who came forward to tell her story and any other women who have their own stories to tell."
- Savannah Guthrie
Lack said NBC's "highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected, and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender. We are deeply saddened by this turn of events."
An emotional Guthrie admitted "we just learned this moments ago" and said the "Today" team is "devastated and we are still processing all of this."

"All we can say is that we are heartbroken. I'm heartbroken for Matt. He is my dear, dear friend and my partner and he is beloved by many, many people here. And I'm heartbroken for the brave colleague who came forward to tell her story and any other women who have their own stories to tell."
Kotb said she and and Guthrie "were both woken up with the news, kind of predawn, and we're trying to process it and trying to make sense of it."
Guthrie said NBC will be "covering this story as reporters" and will share more details "in the hours and days to come."
Lauer firing puts harsh new focus on NBC News boss Andy Lack after Trump tweet
At the begining of the 8 a.m. hour, Stephanie Gosk reiterated the news of Lauer's firing and told viewers the NBC staffer had complained about inappropriate behavior from Lauer throughout 2014, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Meanwhile, The New York Post, citing a source, reported an incident occurred during the coverage of the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The details could not immediately be confirmed.
The "Today" show anchors weren't the only ones reacting to the surprising development. President Trump also chimed in on Lauer's firing on Twitter as the news broke.
Lauer, 59, had a $20 million/year contract that would have taken him into 2018. Lauer's firing comes just days after "CBS This Morning" host Charlie Rose was canned for his behavior towards women, which included showering naked in front of them at his home. That leaves just "Good Morning America" host George Stephanopoulos as the remaining male anchor of the big three network morning shows.
Lauer married Annette Roque in 1998. She filed for divorce in 2006 and accused the anchor of "cruel and inhumane" behavior before withdrawing her petition one month later after reaching a private agreement. They have 3 children.
According to Page Six, Lauer and Roque live separate lives.

That could be good or very bad. If it were me I'd start on meds asap.
Party planning, Christmas list making, and assorted tasks on the agenda for today. I can't believe it's only 2.5 weeks to DS' and DH' birthday party. It's going to be fun seeing them celebrate together. I'm wanting to invite the kids from DS' Sunday School class but not sure how to go about it. Maybe give DS a stack of invites and ask him to ask his teacher if he can pass them out? I don't know how many kids are in his class so was thinking to just make a printout of the RSVP info that the kids could give their parents.
DS is at his great grandma's for the week helping them get their Christmas decorations up. He was super happy to be staying at great grandma's. I'm enjoying the silence. Love that kid but I'm a person who needs silence to rejuvenate and DS and DH are both loudmouths.
That's odd, FNW, you'd think if it were a "deadly bacteria in the blood" she'd be told not to travel and start treatment right away. Even if the meds are not available, overnight delivery is an option.
Chef, it's hard to believe little man is turning 4. As for inviting the Sunday School class, I'd do invitations. Around Christmas, a lot more kids seem to be in church, kids that don't normally come. If you send an open invitation, you may end up with kids you've never seen and no parents in sight. Hate to say it, but it does happen.
Seems everyone is being accused of sexual harassment these days. I know it happens, just seems like it's everywhere these days.
I have something going on with my right eyelid, it's swelling, itchy and red. It isn't pink eye, my eyeball and under my eyelid is fine. This is the outside. Almost like a reaction to something. Not sure what. I'm treating it with a topical antibiotic. It's helping.
Hope everyone is having a great day.

I don't know any of the names of the kids or who is normally there vs who isn't. DH is the one who drops him off and picks him up at his classroom. He's not good with names but he might remember some faces.
I don't personally care if the parents stick around for the party or not as long as I have their contact info. There will be enough adults present that any misbehavior will be quickly handled.
And the school called. #2's pants ripped. In the crotch. WTF? They are new and a size bigger than he probably needs. Anyway, he was laughed at and left his lunch and coat in the cafeteria and made the walk of shame to the office and had them call me. They did a nice job of duct taping the rip, but you could see they were ripped and he was mortified to return to class that way. Can't blame him. It was all I could do to keep from laughing myself.
Good afternoon! I'm not going to miss Matt Laur... Little man is behaving so much better and back to his happy self, turned out he was cutting a molar. Have fun planning your little fournato's birthday party chef🍰

Poor thing.
It happens could just be poor workmanship.
I think we've all took that walk at some point.

I caught my pants on a hook at work one night. Ripped the seat out. I had to use staples to hold it together till I finished my shift.

Chef can you contact the teacher? Give her the invites directly, don't leave it up to a 4YO. She may even have a class list of parents she is able to give you. Unfortunately, RSVPs are frustratingly null these days and the host is left to call people to see if their kid is attending.

Hmmm that's an idea. I might be able to contact the teacher via FB.
I hear ya on the lack of RSVPs. I combat it by only giving the address to confirmed RSVPs and confirmed maybes. I need to know how much food and such to buy and I'm not dealing with a bunch of non-RSVPs showing up on party day. The first year, we overbought by A LOT because we wanted to make sure there was enough for drop ins and had way too much food and goodies leftover. The second year and onward, we put our foot down. No RSVP/maybe? No address for you. If we invite DS' Sunday School class, those who RSVP will get the address via text or FB, whichever they use to RSVP.

What a great idea! Let them know that the location of the party is X miles away from the school and you will give it when they RSVP. Brilliant!

Great idea. Some people have no consideration. They won't commit in case something else pops up. Then they just show up.
The bolded is exactly why we refuse to pay for a party package at any of the party places. If we ever have his party at a party place, we will pay for their child's/children's admission when they show up.
