The neighbor to our immediate south has set fire
to his property at least three times, during a burn
ban. The fires came onto our property, and burned
almost five acres each time.
I just found out that he is in bankruptcy/foreclosure
to the tune of over $150,000 in fuel costs owed to one
of our two gas stations in town. He never reimbursed
us for our lost crops. That's not what they mean when
they say "fire roasted tomatoes" !

Perhaps once it is in foreclosure, you can buy the property at a cheap price?

We'd LOVE to buy the property, but
we don't have the cash flow at the
moment. DH had to sell his boat
last December pay the rest of last
year's real estate taxes.
The property would be a great addition
of DH's watermelon endeavor, and we
could even rent out the double wide
trailer as a source of income.

Fortunately, we have FABULOUS neighbors, and
a really great volunteer fire department, so our
home was never in peril.
The two neighboring volunteer fire departments
responded VERY quickly, and started dousing
our crops before the flames could get to them,
even before they started extinguishing the
fire on the neighbor's property. He lost two
bob-cats, a boat, a cargo container (with LOTS
of flammable items inside), two (non-working)
pick-up trucks, plus lots more. The hulks are
still resting on their lawn.
The receptionist is an idiot. She scheduled a company to come in and replace the carpet on Monday. He problem is, she didn’t tell anyone she was doing that. She sent an email at 9:30 this morning informing us all of it. She did not coordinate packing or moving of offices or cabinets. Didn’t have glass movers coming in to move the glass tops for the desks and conference tables. Nothing. And to top that all off, she left for the day at 10. What a mess.

Call the carpet company and postpone then teach the person how to do this right.

Oh no. This is so not my problem. Her boss has taken over. Cancelled Monday and scheduled a meeting with all the need to know people to regroup. I told my boss what was going on and said I am staying out of it, which she totally agrees with. The receptionist does not report to me. If she screws up, it’s not my problem. Let her fail is what I was told.

Nice! at least others not the proper protocol.

My foreman calls me. Says company X sent us a damaged, unusable box, what should he do. I say send it back. I call company X and calmly, but sternly explain what happened and how it’s unacceptable. Company X is very apologetic, makes arrangements for another box to be sent. He asks for more details on which box it was so he can address it with his people.
I press my foreman for more information. In that process find out it was a box from company Y.
At last I have a very good working relationship with the guy at company X. And he found the whole situation absolutely hilarious (truly, he was having trouble speaking through the laughter).
That foreman is currently at the top of DG’s $hit list.
