Spring broke on garage door yesterday because it's so cold. Guy came out already this morning and replaced them so I'm not trapped in my home anymore! Not that I'm going anywhere....time to take down the Christmas decorations.
UGH! It's currently 8* here with a real feel of -11*. I'm in for the weekend. It's just too cold and far too windy (still) to go out. I'll spend the day cooking since I've got a craving for sausage sammies. I'll simmer some in beer with onions, garlic and maybe some green peppers. I've been digging around in the freezer and need to cook up some stuff before it gets freezer burn.
I'm in the process of de-Christmasing the house. Everything is down. I just need to bubble wrap most of it and box it to put away. I've made some headway in the spare room. There is now a pathway through the center of the room for me to move around in. I'm seeing the light at the end of that damn tunnel in there finally.
That's it for my day -- other than snacking my way through the day. Since I'm trying to quit smoking again, I'm snacking more, which is not a good thing but . . .
Czech, this is probably the fifth or sixth time I'm trying. Clearly I'm not successful at it. lol Yes, you are right, though, you do have to want it. I have found now at this stage of life that I have a mild case of COPD and smoking isn't helping. It's been difficult for me to even walk up a flight of stairs without having to totally sit and try to catch my breath. I haven't purchased cigarettes in over a month but I have "borrowed" one or two from DS or a friend here and there. I do enjoy a good smoke occasionally. I just can't smoke a pack a day like I did. Chantix helps eliminate the desire for one but the mind still craves it.
Sunshine and Czech ~
WAY TO GO! You both are awesome!
Quitting smoking is said to be the hardest
thing to do.
What my father did when he quit cold
turkey was put a tiny dab of Vicks under
his nose when he knew he would be in a
situation where others would be smoking.
He would smell the Vicks, rather than the
smoke, and it would be easier on him.
If you find you need to do something with
your hands rather than hold a cigarette,
carry a smooth pebble or some small
worry beads in your pocket.
If you crave something in your mouth,
dice up some celery, or carrot, or green
pepper. These will help.
We are warming up a little, slowly. The sun feels good!
Happy Saturday!

In 6 days, it will be 6 years since DH and I quit smoking together cold turkey. And we went thru hell just after that with my Dad rapidly going downhill and passing away. We ate a lot of candies and veggie sticks. I breathed in a bit of second hand smoke to help deal with things but never actually picked up a cigarette. If we could make it thru that without smoking, we can handle anything.
I still crave having one. Especially after meals and long drives. I know if I did have just one, I would be a regular smoker again.
You have to want being smokefree more than having one.
