I think a short term spending bill will pass today. The Likes of Shumer and Pelosi have taken quite a bit of heat for holding the budget back because of DACA not being included.

Snowed all day Monday here. Some trains are stopped; airplanes grounded; buses hours behind schedule. It is supposed to stop during the night, clear and temperatures plunge so that all will be a coat of ice in the morning. So glad I do not have to get out for anything. It will only last a couple of days, but makes me think of those in the States who are experiencing longer and harder snowfalls/blizzards. Sounds like Nebraska is in for it now...

How much did you get, Karl?

Ugh. Here. Shutting down the government. I think they will come up with something today as well. Then all this would be for nothing. At least I get the afternoon off.

No. Kidding.
Saw the Pelosi clusterboink online last night.
The comments and reactions were overwhelmingly negative toward her little democratic women press "conference".
No one is buying the lies.

Hi Karl.
Is the snow good for snowcream?

Enjoyed the warmer weather of the last few days. Was able to open the house up yesterday and get fresh air in here.
Rain today.

both Presidents Clinton and Obama spoken against illegal aliens plus Hillary and shumar, (sp) too! Now since President Trump is trying to do something about it they are on the side of the illegals. The majority of Americans don’t believe them. If they had truly cared about Dacas they would have already done something about it while they had a Democratic President and majority in the house and congres.
We lucked out and only got a few inches of snow. It's the ice under the snow (rained first) that is making it dangerous for us. DH's pickup was covered in ice this morning. Took almost an hour to thaw it out so he could go to work at noon. He had to chip ice off the door to get into it.
The dog gets his business done really quick. lol
My Vikings lost. :(
Lindley, good luck with the potty training, but yeah, they will get it done in their own time.
I am presuming the government shut down is over from the posts here. I have not listened to any news today. I'm so fed up with the Democrat's bullshlt..
Hope everyone has a good day!

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
The family that moved in 1/1/17 has
decided they don't want to live here any
more. We gave them a break when they
moved in. He said he was a handy-man,
so we waived the security deposit if he
would mend the roof in a couple of places
(we supplied all materials). The materials
are still on the roof, waiting to be used.
They got behind when he had a pace maker
inserted in July. Most people are up and
around 1-2 weeks after surgery. He stayed
at home 2 months, but he was able enough
to have beer parties every other week.
Their arrears were paid at the end of Dec.
by an anonymous donor to our community
association $2400. So far, they've paid
300 on their January rent, which doesn't
even cover their electric. I dread to think
about what condition the house will be in
when they move out at the end of Jan.
I only feel sorry for the two girls, if they
have to move to a different school. The
younger one is a hellion, who won't obey
her mother, and the older has CP, and is
scheduled for surgery to help correct her
legs.
For those of you who have rental properties
have you ever used something called
"Tenant Screening"? It costs something
like $29 (I presume for one screening) or
$49 for a more extensive report. I sure
have had lousy luck with renters.
That stinks Momala. I'd screen for sure from now on. It's worth the money. The house next door is a rental. Usually the neighbors suck. They will rent 3 or 4 months and leave the house totally destroyed.
Ended up getting 9 inches. Ho Ho. Trains are running, but the streets are a mess. No sanders, salters, snow plows in Tokyo. Just have to melt. Based on past experience it will take a couple of days except for the shady areas which will remain treacherous until the next hard rain.
I have no plans on going out. Wonder what the outside cat is up to. His first experience with snow and it is too deep for him to try to get here for his food. Hope he is in a fairly warm place and stays snuggled in. (Has enough fat to live on for a few days without food. Kind of remains me of an Archie Bunker episode when Bea Arthur asks him "Are you going to get up or stay in bed and live off your fat?" )
Moma, not much experience with rentals. with DS's rental we did a credit report and generally ran their names through the internet to see if anything pops up. Also, we got references. $29 is cheap for a bit of piece of mind.
Karl, Good you don't have to go anywhere. Crazy the city has nothing to treat the roads.

Chef, don't push the PT. When he's ready, it will be a piece of cake.
Huh?
I think she meant Lindley.

Lindley was talking about potty training her grandson.

Lol! His mommy is ready for little man to be out of the diapers before the baby. He did very good today with only one accident. No scolding just praise for him and a few m n m's for when he has a victory.
Momala, so sorry you're having to deal with the lousy tenant syndrome. Been there. I was a property manager for ten years. Managed a 40-unit apartment complex and a 20-unit townhouse complex. Make a friend in the police department to run names by. Also, paying for background checks is generally worth it, depending on the company. Thankfully, in that ten years, I only had two or three tenants demolish a place. Having had a boss to answer to, I didn't drag my feet in evicting someone if they fell behind. I didn't have the luxury of being nice.
I never understood why people are so disrespectful of another's property. I'm dealing with a neighbor below me who really just doesn't seem to care. It's maddening at times the noise (slamming doors, etc.) that comes from there. She claims the front (entrance) door has been broken for over two years and doesn't want to complain to maintenance to fix it. Cupboard doors, room doors all get slammed. So, I complained to maintenance and the door got fixed but the slamming continues. She claims it's the other neighbor but every time it happens, I look out the window and see her or her 30-something daughter leaving, not the other neighbor she's blaming.
Anyway, I hope the house isn't in rough shape and that you eventually find a decent tenant.
Obnoxious neighbors are the bane of apartment life.
I once lived under someone who would stand at his patio door and open then shut it repeatedly for 5-10 minutes at a time. He complained about the one time we let the front door slam going out. I told the office I was surprised he heard our door slam over his repeated opening and shutting of his patio door. Funny thing. The repeated opening and shutting stopped soon after that remark to the office. The opening and shutting didn't bother me but if you're going to whine about noise from someone else, you ought to make sure you're not making noise yourself. I'm partially deaf so my tolerance for noise is greater than most since I can't hear you. If your noise is annoying me, you've pissed off the rest of the building.
Most obnoxious neighbor I've had was the smoker who lived next door. He insisted on blowing his smoke directly at my patio. I'm allergic to smoke and politely asked him to please not blow his smoke directly at my patio. He declined to blow his smoke elsewhere. I started keeping a can of air freshener by my patio. He'd blow his smoke at my patio. I'd make his smoke clouds pine fresh. He didn't like the freshening of his smoke clouds. Took a few tries but he got the message and started blowing his smoke toward the courtyard (away from both my patio and his other neighbor's patio).
One of my favorite neighbors lived across the hall from me. Ours were the only two apartments in the hallway and we both had dogs. We'd put up the baby gate I had across the hallway, leave our front doors open, and let our dogs run and play in both apartments. The baby gate wasn't blocking anyone. The complex was set up so that the entries for every two apartments were down a small hallway off the main hallway. Our dogs enjoyed having two whole apartments to run and frolic in.

Personally, I don't run a credit report. But I require pay stubs, references, and I check the bankruptcy records and civil action records for evictions. Also - I don't waive a security deposit for any reason. If they want to do work as a credit - do the work, let me inspect it, and I'll credit the rent. NO "PRE" credits.
Treat it like a business and do so unapologetically. If you are matter of fact, they won't expect such concessions. And if a person can't pay a security deposit, they will likely have problems paying rent.
