I am trying to decide whether to attend the NCAA Womens Final Four Championships in Columbus, Ohio.  DH and I love bball and of course DD would go.  My son doesn't want to go.  But, sounds like fun.  The tickets go from about $500 and up for lower level. There are 2 games on Friday so that would cover that.  We would not be able to stay for the actual Championship game on Sun but we would get to see the final games of the 4 best teams.  Anyway, how do you decide what is worth it to you when you look at event tickets, etc?

Seems a silly question. If you're excited about it, love it and can afford it, it's a no-brainer.

I agree with FS. But decide soon. Hotels will be at a premium and fill up quickly.

Yes. I don't mind paying good money for tickets, then they tack on a $100+ "service fee" per ticket. I mean , just show me the real price of the ticket up front. That's annoying!

Yeah, that used to be illegal, lol. But, i don't mind paying, just be upfront on the price so I have to dink around with the nonsense.

Next weekend, I am taking DD and my GF to see the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra perform Beethoven's Fifth. Gonna hit Olive Garden for lunch first, yum.

To the original question, How do I decide to spend money on an event? Well, it depends on how much I like it, and how much it costs.

I will say this, and I'm not talking about any one event or person, just in general, that WOW! Prices for everything has skyrocketed, haven't they?

My thing was concerts. I think the most I ever paid for a single ticket was the beginning of what became Ozfest $40 a ticket, but there were 3 bands.

Any other regular concert was, maybe, $25.

You can't even park for $25, now.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

Personally, I have never taken a trip and thought later, "wow, I wish I had not spent money on that trip." Ever. But I love to travel and experience new things.

Money spent on something you both enjoy would be money well spent. Memories that would last a lifetime. These are the things our children will remember.

While I was out running errands this morning, I, of course, had the radio on in the Wrangler. The announcer was talking about the upcoming Elton John retirement tour. He was wondering what the cost of tickets for the front row, up close and personal with him, would be. He inquired and found a ridiculously over-inflated price tag . . . . $8,000 per ticket. *gulp* There would be no way in hell I'd pay that for any entertainer.

Well, I didn't get the $700 seats so went a bit higher up but we are going to be midcourt which i prefer. Anyway, I usually get my tickets and they are emailed right away and then i print them out and they have a code on them. Well, these seats were "flash seats" and I really should have looked a bit closer. But, flash seats are like an electronic box where the tickets are transferred. But, to do that, i had to set up a flash seats account and then you have to put personal info like a credit card in and they don't charge it but geez i am getting tired of all this baloney! Just email me the dang tickets! But, now I am stuck doing that because i already purchased them. So, hopefully this flash seats thing isn't a scam. But, i purchased through Vivid seats which supposedly has a buyer guarantee and I have bought tickets from them before. But, i should have read the thing more closely. Grr...

Has anyone ever had trouble with tickets. I have had E tickets, paper tickets and even bar codes on my smart phone and never had a problem. SO, hopefully this is fine but I still really would rather have a paper ticket!

I haven't heard of flash seats, but I don't buy a lot of tickets to sporting events. My DH usually goes through StubHub when we do go....see if you can find a review on line for them maybe? At any rate, I'd print out your confirmation, including seats/rows. etc., and if you run into a problem, talk to security.

Is there a way you can confirm your barcode with the venue now?  what I have seen for scams is the e tix are sold several times and the first one who shows up to the venue is allowed in.  Maybe you can call the venue and give them the e tix barcode and get your name associated with them.

The most I've ever paid for tickets was
$150 (for two) to the Neal McCoy concert
in Tilden, TX, about 4 years ago.

It was wonderful, and the tickets included
"heavy" hors d'oeuvres, and an inexpensive
cash bar. Neal was wonderful, and walked
all around the venue, and especially dancing
with the little old "blue haired" ladies. DH
surprised himself by enjoying it, and has
promised to get us tickets if he performs
in our driving area in the near future.
