My brothers assistant. She is a nightmare. Called in late on Friday because her new BF slept over. Then had a screaming match with the EX, not her first, then asked to leave early. My brother was hot. I thought he was going to do it Friday.
Wow! I would never dream of calling or texting a boss during off hours unless it was an extreme emergency. Sounds to me like she's bullying him. Is everything being documented? If he fires her, make sure all things are documented so if she tries to file a wrongful termination or something, he has justification, even if it's an "at will" state.
Ohhhhhhhh that sheds a new light. Yep, make sure all things are documented. Does he return her affections? None of my business but . . . we all know it's never a good idea to mix business and pleasure in that respect. I'm sorry you have to deal with it all.
We a employment at will state, FS, so she can be fired without cause
Yes, I know. Most states are "at will". I'm well aware but that doesn't mean she can't bring a wrongful termination suit. And documentation would be helpful in fighting any unemployment she might sign up for, if you'd want to stop it.

But if you fire without cause, then you get into the whole unemployment payout thing. We've gone to court before because of it. It's not as cut and dry as it seems...

I know that. But it is easier just to fire without cause. Only impact is on the unemployment tax rate the employer pays. If the company has a good employment attrition history the rat won't be impacted too badly.

Last week, they put some sound dampening panels on the walls at one end of the building. As soon as I saw them, I knew President would hate them. I was told he approved them himself. President is on site as of yesterday, the panels have already been removed. Can I go tell the purchasing department “I told you so”?
My boss and I text all the time. But she's female and it's usually to let each other know if we're working from home, going in, etc. Usually early morning hours. But she texts with everyone on our team that way, too.
