Just found out that one of the victims
in the school shooting is the nephew
of the lady who runs the kitchen at the
gas station in Sutherland Springs. A
double whammy for her.

A small positive note. The free grief
counselling being offered in Sutherland
Springs was about to wrap up. Suddenly
they have been innundated with numerous
requests for appointments. They will be
open for another three months, at least.

Gosh, Momala, small world, isn't it. Counselling is a good thing. And sorry for your friend.

Trudy, what were you thinking, working on a Thursday of all days. lol

Hey.

Everyone feeling better? I hope so.

Frogs have been singing since Saturday, here, and the trumpet swans and geese have been flying over all day.

Been a busy busy day, but a good one. Had the annual review with raise and bonus info provided. Oh yeah, Momma! raise % wise isn't great but expected. I am at the top level of my "grade" but the bonus is nice. I am stepping up my game; spoke with two managers higher than my supervisor and let them know I need a career path to step it up and to keep me in mind. Received very well.

Hey I figure I have 9 years left to retirement, why not up the salary gain and the career gain? I am somewhat bored with my job, love it but not busy enough.  I am the right hand man of the PM so that is good, need more of that which is what I spoke to the managers about.  Plus my salary will put DD through college.  Somewhat astounded at what I will be able to afford for her college.  Feel that I owe DS the same payout since he put himself through college with some help from me, but not what DD will get.  Perhaps change the trust so he can take an equal amount?

Congratulations IKWTDS! That is great! Hope everyone else is having a pleasant evening. DH left for his golf trip so I won't see him till next Saturday night. I will miss him but he sounds so happy on the phone.

Had a busy day with the boys, played outside all morning since we had a break in the cold weather played all afternoon after their naps. Little man scared the dickens, out of me, I put him down for his nap and then the little nephew and heard a loud thud upstairs in the room where he was "sleeping " I ran up there and he wasn't in his crib nor could I find him anywhere. I looked in all the rooms calling out his name thinking someone got in my house and took him till I heard a little giggle. He was hiding in the closet. The stinker.

My wife was released from the hospital today after 3 days and 2 nights of testing on her heart. Ran everything imaginable, including a catheter to check inside the heart. The results showed she does not have any major problems with her heart at this time and the medicine will stay the same. Doctor said she could be having pains when she walks because 1) she does not walk often enough or far enough. 2) differences in temperature between the warm/hot room and the cold outside. 3) stress or unnecessary worry about her health. It is a Doctor she trusts and believes, which makes me happy because she will probably follow his advice.... The only thing left is to get the permanent bridge for her upper teeth.... Then she should be fixed up for spring. We are both really happy about the results and the cat is glad mama is back. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts.

How about gifting it to him for a down payment for a house?

gifting him that amount would interfere with the taxes on the trust.  Plus don't know yet what college is going to cost.  But that is an idea.

You should be able to gift him $14k a year without tax consequences.

Yes, but we are talking 100K + and am not willing to spend my retirement just yet.  May want to buy a mansion in GA or something.  wink

Well, you haven't actually spent it on college, yet.
