B U S Y busy weekend. Getting
ready for our 10th annual chili
cook-off, plus I have to do flowers
for a funeral on Sunday. Fortunately
I can buy and arrange them today,
and leave them at the Church, and
someone else will put them under
the altar Sunday morning.

Even though we need some rain
very badly, I'm glad there is no
rain forecast for the next couple
of days.

Off today! Sitting here sipping my coffee and relaxing. Need to go grocery shopping this morning. I am in charge of making the family birthday cake for Mom. She will be 87 on Monday. Having dinner tomorrow at Bro's house. Would it be bad if I didn't make the cake from scratch?

I am making the cake from scratch. Family recipe from Mom's side. White cake, with white buttercream frosting. Once that dries a thin layer of unsweetened choc on top. It is very sweet. Unfortunately the probability of the cake being really dense is high. Told Bro to pick up 87 candles. He wants me to make the cake, it is a fav of the guys in my family.

I am not making the frosting from scratch, DG do NOT tell the Boy.

Still feel like crap, but I may live for another day. I have the cough from hell today.

I was going to go to the doctor today, but the ice on the roads put a stop to that idea.

Hoping we do not loss power. There is a lot of ice hanging from the trees and power lines.

Poor Sam slid off the deck, twice, already. I salted it and now he won't step on it. Salt hurts his paws. Not going to win this one, I'm afraid.

Grrr haven't made The Cake in a long time. One part is whipping the egg whites and then mixing in sugar and folding into the batter. Grr I forgot what the process was and beat the egg whites WITH the sugar. Which means a very dense cake. I am so done with this recipe. It will taste the same but not light and fluffy.

I'd have reservations about that Snoop 3:16 thing, too, O4. While he may be a believer, his public life doesn't reflect it. But, God can use anyone to reach people.

All my plants have died. My little seedlings didn't have a chance after we had to turn the heat back on. I couldn't keep them watered properly. My big knock out roses are looking sad, too. We still have another freeze in the forecast. I don't think they will make it. 😟

It's only, what? 5 days till Spring.

So it is done baking, tooth pick came out clean all the way around. May turn out better than expected. Next challenge is to get it out the pan in one piece. I did grease and put flour in the pan, fingers crossed

Well My Bro and The Boy will totally have to get over it. SIL and I are laughing about the fail knowing that adding fruit and heavy whipped cream will be so delish. I will sit in the failed family cake corner with my SIL. I am sure DG you will be there one day with us.
