I'm always amazed at the "freebies" my cousin's wife tries to get from people on FB, too.

And that people do "goody bags" for anything over a 5 year olds birthday party.

I never understood that either. Or wedding favors. What do people do with them afterwards? Seems like a waste of money.

My cake was three layers, lemon, white chocolate with raspberry center, and vanilla.

The grooms cake was a box chocolate his mother made cause God knows she couldn't bake and was so cheap, she sure wasn't going to order one.

My cousin's daughter is getting married in November. She registered honeyfund.com. WTF? Has anyone seen this before? They want money for their honeymoon. It's all broken down by hotel room, excursion, meals, drinks, etc. Every little expense. Talk about a gift grab.

At first, I thought it was tacky, too. Had serious icky feelings about it. But times are different. No one needs housewares anymore.
As long as it's not in the invitation, I'm ok with it.i mean, if a guest is going to spend money, it may as well be what they want.
When I got married the first time, the best gift (for me) was a hand held blender. I still use that thing, 25 years later.
Most couples marrying these days have all household needs....

complete herb/spice basket. Do you
have any idea how much a complete
spice grouping can be? OMG is was
more than $75!

And I had a great time wrapping each
spice separately. DH and I spent a
lot of time and effort surprising them
with all the spices they would need
for the next 12-18 months. We can
hardly wait to visit them for dinner !

Even though it wasn't wrapped individually receiving a dish rack full of spices was my favorite gift at my wedding shower
