Snow was clinging to the branches when I got up. It better be the last of the season! It's dark, damp, grey out. I don't remember what blue sky looks like. Have to head out for work soon. Hope everyone has a great day!

Next time I wil answer the call and let them know you are still waiting for them to come get you. Do you want a private cell or do you want to share?

I'm wishing for a scammer. I've been dealing with the IRS for 3 years now on my 2014 tax returns. That's the year we adopted Jojo, and they can't seem to wrap their head around the fact that her name changed, but her social security number did not, and the SSN took longer to change than her name, so it didn't match for the year.

Ha, Ha, Ha, IRS scams!!! I prefer them to the SSI scams.

LL, is Georgia really slow about adoptions? Gosh, we did not have that happen with any of ours. Good luck and hope it all ends soon for you. What a headache.

The sun is shining!!!! It's a miracle I say, a miracle! 50's today, 60's tomorrow and then a foot of snow for the weekend... :(

Started cleaning out the back porch this morning. Gosh, I hate that job..

That sucks. Looks like the paperwork from adoption would be enough.

Ugh, LL...I would rather deal with the KGB than the IRS.

Buying this new house is about to make me pull out my hair. The appraiser measured the SF wrong. And she didn't include the entire property. So we have to file a dispute. And evidently appraisers are the Special Aunts of all Special Aunts. She also comped houses over 20 miles away...that aren't Lake Houses...

G knew I was stressing, so he called me and told me he had scheduled a massage. That I couldn't cancel because of the time. Omg...that was THE best massage ever...evidently I needed it...

My 28x56 mobile home rental house just
got its tax appraisal raised from $10,000
to $25,000 ! Mobile homes are supposed
to be taxed like cars - they decrease every
year, not increase !

The difference between the 2013 appraised
value and the 2018 apprised value is 75.98%,
homestead be damned! ! !

This is the home my renters trashed, to the
tune of more than $5,000 to repair, to a
rentable condition!

I can't believe how fast this year is flying. Third of the way through April already.

DS has been signed up for swimming lessons. We don't have a pool in which to teach him so lessons it was. He had his first lesson yesterday. He did great for it being his first time in water deeper than a kiddie pool. The instructor said he was a little nervous but was still willing to do everything. The pool the school uses is 4 feet deep. He's almost 43 inches tall so not much deeper than he is tall. We have to get him swim goggles before his next lesson. He's starting off at level 3.

The instructor is teaching him how to float. She gradually worked up to letting him float on his own. He lasted for a couple seconds then went under but kicked himself up right away. He'll get the hang of floating soon. I'm glad he knows how to kick himself to the surface now. He really loved the lily pad thing the instructor put him on and simulated a wave pool for him. He's also excited about being able to earn prizes. They give the kids 1 coin per lesson if they follow all the safety rules.

That is a huge increase.  Are you going to appeal?

I would definitely appeal and ask for a detailed explanation in writing as to why it was increased almost 76%! That's insane.

She was born in Wyoming, and in Michigan when her mother died 3 months later.  So, she came under the jurisdiction of the Michigan courts.  We did the adoption in Michigan as well b/c after looking at the law, it was going to be better for us b/c her father couldn't be found in terms of permanently terminating his rights, and him not being able to come back later.  The adoption took longer because we had to make diligent efforts to find him over time.

The adoption was final on April 29, 2014 and her name was changed by court order that day.  The papers then had to be certified and sent to Wyoming for a new birth certificate.  The ONLY person that could do amended birth certificates was out on maternity leave for several months, and we didn't get the new birth certificate until the end of January, 2015.  I filed taxes in February, not even thinking about it - and didn't get her social security card changed until April or May.

I remember my friend telling me when she adopted her sister's child she made the mistake of claiming her Cherokee heritage. That added a whole new layer of approval she needed to obtain and was a PIA. She only had a very small percentage of Cherokee in her and she said she'd never do that again.
