They have "registries" for honeymoons/vacations now. Sadly, my young cousin did that. I'll have to go peek and see if any suckers...I mean guests...have contributed.

One thing I hate about go fund me is the site takes out a percentage of the donations. That's one of many reasons that I would never recommend starting one to pay for a funeral, majority if not all funeral homes will except donations toward the families funeral cost and 100% goes toward the cost.

Well sure, Gofundme is a business. They provide a service that secures payments for a fee, just like many other places. Families getting donations at funerals are sometimes left with bad checks. That doesn't happen on gofundme or other like sites. However, like LL says, gofundme is just internet panhandling.

My estranged little brother started a gofundme for our dad when he had cancer not too long ago. Next thing I know he has a brand new Camaro for a graduation gift. Coincidental?

I understand and it is panhandlin, but it doesn’t mean the persons or family is guaranteed to receive the donation. A family lost a young mother here in town to a sudden death and the person who set up a account with gofundme and a ton of people donated to disappeard with the money. I know It doesn’t mean everyone that’s sets up one is a con, it’s gotten out of hand.
