I retired to watch my grandkids and feel that I’m more busier then I was when I was working. At times I do miss it. I miss the people and a little sad that chapter of my life is over.
I miss the interaction with others, the feeling of actually being productive, the paycheck, the freedom I had.
It's raining, I say again but I should probably say still.
There's talk of my neice coming here to live. Ugh...
But her mom is kicking her out.
I'm not surprised, I said she would.
She graduated a week ago, her mom gave her a month to find a place.
No matter if she finds a place or not, her mom is changing the locks on the 18th.
Now, she could go live with her dad, but she doesn't want to.
She's 18. She's got issues. I'll be the one dealing with her. I don't want to.
But I will. Because I love her.

DS is officially enrolled in preschool! This school teaches an accelerated program and the kids in the preschool program get the first crack at kindergarten spots when sign-ups start. I'm hoping this school will add a high school by the time he gets of age for high school. Right now, it's pre-k through 8th grade.
I'm super excited about taking DS back-to-school shopping. Can't wait to get the supply list. If there is one, anyway. I don't know if supply lists are a thing in preschool. I plan on talking to the teacher at the meet-the-teacher and asking if there's anything that she/he needs for the classroom. I know some parents have an attitude about helping with classroom supplies and I want to ensure DS' classroom is well-stocked.
Awe chef, I miss buying school supplies for my kids. I remember taking them out to eat at shoneys, then to Walmart to get their school supplies, a new outfit to wear the first day of school and food for their lunch. It is fun.
I'm sorry for your niece lily, I'm sure she is very hurt to realize that her mother couldn't wait till she was 18 so she could kick her out. Could she possibly join the military or find a job and find a group of friends to share a apartment? My advice that if she moves in with you, is that she is going to need structure and a goal to work towards, either college or a trade school.

I looooove school shopping! I'm such a nerd. There's just something about fresh notebooks, pens, etc. that makes me happy.
I think I'll borrow what you did and make back-to-school shopping an event.
Oh, boy. DD14 starts high school this year. First year without uniforms. I'm DREADING pants shopping with her. It's horrible. Pants never fit her.
Could you get the pants from the same place you got the uniforms?
She wore dresses and skirts almost exclusively. We rarely found even uniform pants to fit her right. She has a small waist and a big butt.
Caitlyn, too.
Needs those apple bottom jeans.
Try jeggings.
Caitlyn finds jeans at rue 21, American Eagle, Deb, and Walmart.
Of course she could still wear cute skirts.

Poor thing. What about college?
If she lives with her dad she can go to the school where he runs a lab, but it's in another state where the only people she knows is her dad.
She could get free college through her stepfather, but her mom is adamant that neice is just gone.

Poor thing. What about college?
Do people really toss their children out, a month after they graduate High School?
Really?
Why did they even have them?
I'm shaking my head. How cruel.
Yes. Some people do.

Neice knows she has a place here and a place with her dad.
But she has to decide what she is going to do.

OK. I went to visit my BFF out of town. She was coming to visit me today and had car trouble, so i drove to meet her and followed her back to her town. Anyway, we decided to go out to Olive Garden for lunch and then do some shopping. I brought my pooch because originally we were going to go some walking/hiking outdoors. Anyway, i secured my pooch at her home in the shade with water ,dog bed and food and we left for about 3+ hrs. When we pulled up to her house, my dog was happily romping around her yard! She had never been there before or at least never been loose in her yard. She lives in the country so no biggie, but here my dog chewed thru her leash and had a great time romping around while we were gone! lol

ExW gave DSS 2 options for when he turned 18 (one month after graduation - join the military or get a full time job and giver her his whole paycheck ad she would decide his allowance. We were there with our cars to move him out the day he turned 18.
I'm sure we can find pants to fit her, but remember she's a teenager - they can't just fit, they have to be stylish, too. Her kind of stylish, no one else's. Shopping with a teenager sucks.
