This storm system cooled us down a good bit.
Real feel dropped from 102 to 87.
It's 89 degrees.

Ahhhhhhhhh yes! Thankful for the AC, although I really don't use it much. I have but I set it so high it just takes the moisture out of the air in here and that makes it comfortable for me.
We're expecting a t-storm in the next half hour or so, according to accuweather. lol I hope it cools it down like it did for you. Yesterday's two storms didn't do much to break it.

I really don't mind the heat but the older I get the more I mind the humidity. So, setting the AC higher is ok cuz it just gets the moisture out of the air for me and I'm comfortable. In the winter, I prefer it cooler too. I usually set the thermostat for the heat around 66 unless it's REALLY cold out, then 68. I never turn on the thermostats in my room or the spare room and I sleep with the window in my room cracked open about an inch. I love snuggling under the comforter in winter. I don't mind having to sit in the living room with a blanket on and my comfy cozy fuzzie jammies. :D

A monsoon storm rolled through while DH and I were out tonight. Rain was blowing sideways when we got done at Walmart. Had a crowd huddled around the exit staring outside and murmuring about the rain. People, it's just water! Sheesh! I kicked off my sandals (no traction and really didn't care to visit the hospital after cracking my head on the sidewalk) and DH and I headed for the truck. Of course, we couldn't waste a good storm so we sat in the parking lot for a bit enjoying listening to the rain and wind pound on the truck.
Chef, I never understood people not going out in a downpour. It IS just water. Better than the chlorinated water in a pool. And, it's so much fun to jump in the puddles on the way to the car! hahaha
I don't mind going out in most rain, but I don't always want to be soaked if I'm going other places.

Chef, I never understood people not going out in a downpour. It IS just water. Better than the chlorinated water in a pool. And, it's so much fun to jump in the puddles on the way to the car! hahaha
I don't get it either. The running joke in my family is that salt doesn't melt. But, it's AZ. Rain is rare here. When it happens, people lose their heads and forget how to drive. I've seen big, black clouds and not a drop will fall. I've seen the sky go from sunny to black and a massive storm will hit. Finicky desert! It was gorgeous last night watching the storm roll into the Valley. We got the front edge this time.
I will sometimes stay in if it's raining because I don't like what humidity does to my hair. It's better when I use arghan oil, but if I don't, look out. I got my hair done the other day and she didn't use any so when I went to pull weeds within 5 minutes I had an afro. #2 asked me what happened to my hair. It was bad. My hair had it's own zipcode.

I remember my second trip out there to the Canyon. Along the journey to Sedona, we stayed at a hotel in Flagstaff. This hotel had a porch or balcony on each floor that went around the whole hotel. It wasn't a big chain hotel. But, as we were settling in to the room, a storm blew in. OMG! 360* views of lightning in every direction. It was spectacular. I've never seen lightning like that. And it rained really hard. Loved it.

It really was a spectacular show. I could watch that every night! lol Oh, you have no idea how much I would love to sell it all and head out there. I had the opportunity when my Aunt lived in Bullhead City but didn't really want to leave the grands and I couldn't talk DS in to moving with me. lol I've always felt more a connection to the southwest than to the north east.
It was. And in Bryce, our guide showed us the trees that were struck, and how they twisted upon impact. They reminded me of the crazy trees in the Harry Potter movie.

I was born and raised in coastal SoCal but I'm a desert rat. I absolutely love my desert. Nothing can beat the monsoon storms and lightning shows. The sunsets here are brilliant. I don't see many sunrises but those are gorgeous too. We live in the Valley so there's mountains on all sides. Gorgeous views.
