Let's make this one easier. We'll choose a monthly purge item, and you have whole month to purge it. Let me know what you think we should do each month and I'll fill it in. September has to be easy as it is half over. What are we going to do?????
September - Old undies and orphan/unmatched socks
October - Spring/Summer clothes
November - toys and outdoor items - including outerwear you won't be using this winter - donate it to someone who needs it.
December - Unwanted or unused holiday stuff. Special bonus points for donating BEFORE Christmas so others can use it.
January - Old linens, towels, etc. Animal shelters like these.
February - Kitchen cabinets - old containers, scratched pots, chipped mugs, etc.
March - Paper!!!
April - Fall and winter clothes
May -
June -
July -
August -

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
And orphan or unmatched socks. Match your socks by the end of the month, or toss them.
FYI - textiles and fabrics you don't consider donatable, you can throw in those "USagain" clothing boxes. They recycle the textiles if they are no longer wearable in addition to clothing that is salvageable. This includes household linens, shoes, and torn/stained clothing and orphan socks! If you find one located on a school property, please know that the school gets a kickback for every pound of textiles donated. http://www.usagain.com/greenraiser

Saved school papers, household papers, you know, all those things you think you might should keep but then end up in a drawer just taking up space.
September is almost over.
October - summer clothing, toys, outdoor stuff you know you will never use again.

One of my friends has started a ministry called
"Handup" - she makes it soooo easy for us to
donate. She emphasizes single Moms, families,
and those who have lost everything to fires,
floods, etc. Many of her recipients come back
and help her with the ministry.
Its amazing how much "stuff" we can accumulate
in our lives.
All those receipts from the holidays, peppermint wrappers, the stuff no one else wants to carry.

I've cleaned out magazine racks, bathroom drawers, linen closet, hope chest, dresser drawers, went threw and got rid of the majority silk flower arrangements and home interiors pictures and scones. Those are just beginning. Getting ready to paint (as soon as the painter let's me know when he could start, getting tile for the guest bathroom and a back splash for the kitchen and after that is done new wood flooring and carpet.
I'm getting new flooring and paint in my bedroom and bathroom.
Everything except my bed is in the living room.
And most of it will not go back.

Last weekend after packing up Mom's kitchen, I brought home her everyday dishes and silverware. So today I cleaned out most of my kitchen cupboards, washed them down and put away mom's dishes. I packed up all of mine alone with some odds and ends. I also moved all my baking stuff to a new area and tossed old decorating stuff. I also tossed a lot of plastic cups that DD keeps bringing home from various events. My cupboards are so much more organized.
I didn't stop there. I took out my plastic ware drawer and reorganized it and tossed a lot. I had been having a hard time opening / closing it and discovered that there was a screw that had worked its way slightly out and that was preventing the drawer from closing and opening easily. Fixed that sucker.
I am going to head out to BB&B to pickup a new silverware divider and shower curtain liners. I'm on a roll.

What about a rainy day list of smaller things to do?
Like clean out the medicine cabinet, or tossing old cleaning products, or get rid of old makeup and beauty products?
