This was in the news but all the articles I found aren't that great. A few of my coworkers are very familiar with this case and those involved including law enforcement.
Backstory, a Charleston cop was accused of molesting a 10 year old girl 13 years ago. He was supposed to turn himself in and failed to show up. His mother went to his home in a nearby small town to see what was up. She found his wife dead and he was nowhere to be found.
They started a search for this guy and found his car near the Mexican border. Knowing he was a smart man they figured he was trying to throw everyone off his trail so they searched in Canada. He was never found and ended up like 15th most wanted.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, or maybe more. A girl from china was in California for a reason I'm not clear on and was watching one of those most wanted type shows and recognizes this man!! He was her English teacher in China! Busted!! They got him!
He changed his name, and got a job. I'm really not sure how he got to China.
So here's the weird thing. He changed his name from Daniel Heirs to David Williams. If you look on Amazon there are books on how to move to China. So No one knows if that's how he got the idea of if he wrote the books.
