Good morning! I don't wanna! *stomps feet and pouts* I have to work a full day today. I thought I was working PT but apparently this week I'm FT. *sigh*
A beautiful start to this Halloween day. Current temp in the mid 30s but expected to climb to the mid 60s. Indian Summer is upon us. We don't typically get any trick or treaters so it should be an easy night. Our Halloween Parade is tonight as well.
Morning all! It's supposed to reach 70 here today. I'm working from home and will be hosting dinner for the parents. They stay here to hand out candy and we take the boys with a +1 this year. Mom will be a ghost sitting on the front porch surrounded by robot ghosts and scary music. There are a lot of kindergartners in the 'hood this year so it should be interesting....
Good news! We finally sold the lake house!!!!!! We really didn't want to carry it through the winter. It showed Saturday and yesterday they came in with a cash offer! We close Monday. What a weight lifted...But of course, it all goes to the government...booooo...

Today would have been mawmaw and pawpaw's anniversary.
Taking mom to some appointments this afternoon.
No plans tonight, we haven't had trick or treaters for years, and the youngest kids in the neighborhood are in high school.

How does it all go to the Gov't?

Since my two renters have four girls
between them, I think I will have a
total of four knocking on the door!
8, 14, 15, & 16. Their costumes
should be interesting.

Well sure, but not all has to be paid in taxes. Can't fool a former accountant.

That's fun. You should do individual treat bags for them.

When I inhale, my head sounds like a haunted house.
Sinuses are driving me crazy.
Either dry as a bone, or snotty.
But our leaves are turning beautifully.
Love the sugar maples.

Went to the grocery store around 5 and there was no one there.
I got my shopping done in 30 minutes.

We had a Halloween party for the kids tonight at Church, didn't expect a huge turnout but ended up having a ton of kids. We had games, snacks and a pinata. It was a lot of fun.

My nieces and their parents got to go out TorTing together as a family for the first time (oldest is 10 and has always refused to go. Littlest is 6 and has a blast). Both parents got to go because I got to hold the fort and hand out candy.
They left me alone with a giant bowl of candy, a lineup of kids and a 7-wk old puppy. Who in their right mind thought that that was a good idea?? But, candy happened, puppy survived and the nieces and parents got to have a social blast. Whew.

Thanks Lindley. I felt super guilty, like I was hogging their puppy, but then I was happy they got to be together. I don't remember ever going with both parents, so it was nice.
I never went with both parents either, but my parents have stayed behind, dressed up to scare the kiddos every year so DH & I could go together. I just make them dinner!
We also had a fun time when the girls got home. They were tired and a little stunned, but we made them dump their bags in the middle of the carpet (you know, tradition!) so that they could 'count' and we could dig through it for those things that probably shouldn't be eaten. There was some obvious old 'pocket candy' (that someone took from the restaurant, kept in their purse/pocket for a year and then tossed it into the halloween bucket, some really weird easter candy (at least we think... it had a chick on it but was otherwise unidentifiable) and the ones that people had unwrapped or came from a bag they divided that they put in the baggies that they made to give out. There really wasn't that much to throw out.
Do you guys remember back in the day? Home made candy apples, popcorn balls, home made stuff like that? My mom would always throw it out. Watching a candy apple get tossed was so sad. Also missing from the 'memory candy' were Wagon Wheels and those little boxes of raisins. They kids thought we were weird, reminiscing over candy.
Also, I thought it was weird that they couldn't take candy to school in their lunch boxes. Apparently candy at school gets confiscated. That seems stupid to me. A mini snickers with lunch doesn't seem like death. The 10 year olds teacher also wouldn't let them dress up in class. She 'doesn't believe in it'. I had some things to say about this out of earshot of the kids.
That puppy is adorable. I'll bet he was a handful.
Candy at school is frowned upon as well. I will sneak a piece in with their lunch once the dust settles.
The three boys dumped their candy out as well and made trades. #1 doesn't like chocolate so he gave all his up, friend is gluten free so he gave up some of his, and #2 made some trades. Meanwhile, I inspected it all to make sure it was safe and edible.
We had three girls come to the
door - cute costumes, and very
well behaved. They got a LOT
of candy! Plus I saw Mom in
the background, and gave her
the electric pumpkin for her to
use next year.

It's a bit of a 'pinfail'. I thought it would be super cute if she sat there and looked up, but apparently she doesn't look up and was like 'wft am I standing on a Mars bar?'
