I need a white sharpie or something similar. Both in extra fine and fine or medium points.

Any idea where I can find such a thing?

Haven't seen any white sharpies. I don't know what, if any, craft pens would be good to use. I need it to have white ink and be permanent.

Thanks!

That was the first thing I thought of but not sure it will work for white I need it for. It's been many years since I've used one so maybe they've changed the tip. The ones I'm familiar with, the hard tip would be a problem.

I need extra fine point to rewrite the N and M on my laptop keyboard. They wore off. I touch type so don't really care for me but I'd like to start teaching DS to use the computer so I need to rewrite the letters. I don't want to tape anything to my keyboard.

I need the fine or medium points so I can draw the eyes for the Goombas for DS' birthday party. My friend found a cute idea to make Goomba balloons and I might do it. I have plenty of black sharpies (as well as pretty much every other color) but no white ones.

For the keyboard and bright color would work, I suggest yellow.

Not sure since you want white for the balloons.  Would grey be good enough?

Try a stationary store.

Hobby Lobby has all kinds.

www.sharpie.com/markers/art/water-based-paint

If there is time, you can order one at that link.

I doubt the kids would care but not sure grey would show up on brown balloons. Think it would?

Sharpies makes paint pens?! I did not know this! Good thing DH is getting overtime currently :D

The problem with Hobby Lobby is that they don't have the electric carts. My hip won't tolerate the walking. I do have my walker but it's under my Snugtop and I'm still on lifting restriction. But, I'll see what I can do about getting over there. Totally forgot about Hobby Lobby.

They have a wheel chair, you have to ask for it.

At least my Hobby Lobby has one.

Good to know. Plenty of those around here. I'd rather get them in person than on Amazon.

 Nice!

I didn't know they had wheelchairs. It wasn't offered when DH asked if they had electric carts. So either it wasn't available or they don't have 'em at the ones here.

Chef, I know it sucks to have to use a cart or wheel chair. I am so sorry for that for you. I know you will persevere.

 My store has one.

It's kept in the stock room, and you must ask to use it.

I think it's because of all the breakable stuff they like to cram onto tables that they don't have the electric carts and they aren't readily available.

IKWTDS - I've adjusted. It's just annoying currently because of the lifting restriction. My Snugtop is way more than the 10-15 pounds I'm allowed to lift. My biggest pet peeve are the people who reach over me as if I don't exist. I get "it's fine" in response when I say that I can move. No. It's not fine. I don't want things dropped on my head if you happen to drop it!

Lily - Good point about the breakables. Didn't think of that.

Y'all might get a kick out this. The chalk marker was on the same aisle as the glitter but on a top peg and a couple sections down from the glitter. Pulled it off the peg, put it in the basket, and realized my hand was sparkly. I love glitter but was surprised that it managed to reach up and over like that.

Glitter. The herpes of the craft world.

Chef, my house has glitter everywhere.

Between the bows, wreaths, and doo-dads, there is glitter 365 days a year!

We sparkle all the time!

Chef ~
My "coloring" guru says WalMart has a
white paint pen. She's looking up a
brand name for me, and to check that
it would not cover up the rest of the
key pad.

My guru says it is in the arts and
crafts section . They have fine
point and chisel tip.

Its fabulous that you are teaching
DS how to type. It will stand him
in good stead in the future, especially
if he doesn't have to "hunt and peck"!

Question: Is hot glue hot enough to burst a balloon? I need to affix the feet for the goombas somehow. I have super glue, which I know would work, but I'm curious about hot glue.

Yes.

Use tape. Double sided if you have it.

 Well, crap.

I can get double-sided tape. I have some in storage but that'd be more trouble than it's worth. I need double-sided tape for other parts of the stuff I'm making for his birthday anyway.

If you put the glue on the goombas feet,
then wait a couple of seconds, you should
be able to attach them to the balloons.

Hot glue will pop the balloon.

It'll melt it.

Yes, if you try to apply it directly to the
balloon. If you apply it to the decoration,
and wait a few seconds, you should be
fine. Also, you would want to under-
inflate the balloon a little bit.

I've tried it. It doesn't work. It pops it.

Well. I have 3 white chalk pens in fine, medium, and chisel point. I do not have brown balloons. I've been to Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Walmart, Party City, and Dollar Tree. Multiple locations of some of those stores. No brown balloons. Not enough time left to order them online.

So. Next question. I don't feel like papier macheing anything. Would craft paint do an adequate job of painting the balloons? I'm thinking I can get the dark red balloons from Party City and use the paint to make 'em brown enough. Doesn't have to be perfect but does have to be brown. Or does craft paint not stick to latex?

Have you checked The Dollar Tree? They have lots of colors of balloons.

So, I'm thinking I'm going to get dark red balloons and brown craft paint and hope for the best. May not be perfect but it really doesn't have to be. Not like a bunch of preschoolers are going to care. Balloons aren't the goomba shape anyway so a little more ad lib isn't going to hurt ;)

Thanks :)

Now to see if it survives being tossed around by 11 2-7 year olds. We're playing hot potato with it. Mario Party is centered around collecting stars so this is our version of racing for the star.

We're also playing musical chairs and doing a goomba vs bob-omb battle. Got a last minute RSVP today so rather than 5 vs 5, we'll do 5 vs 5 with one kid being the referee then the kids can trade off being ref in subsequent games. RSVPs are officially closed now (today was the last day).
