just returned home from seeing the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Christmas show.  It was so awesome! my Friends bought us tickets.  We went to a great Japanese place for dinner then the show.  DD so enjoyed it too.  Great day!

I need to expand upon my post. I've been in somewhat of a funk this past year, Sure I do a lot at home but not much socially. Today I met a friend early for coffee, got home, did some house cleaning, took DD out shopping then to a neighbor's to hear the HS band, donated money then off to grocery shopping and then to dinner and the show. It has been one of the most awesome days I have had in a long time. Stepping out of the comfort zone.

A full day like that is awesome. I totally understand about the funk. Once you are in it, it is hard to get out.

I think it's the kids that do it to us.  Just with the driving them around to activities and such.

I very much understand it. I had my work get together the other night that I posted about. About a half hour into it and I whispered to DH that I'm ready to go home. It's like I CRAVE being social but once I'm doing it, I just want to be home.

 This is so me!

I holler at DH, "Lets go, lets go", get there and I want to go home NOW.

Thank you for being in my corner of the world. smile

Thanks Czech and all. It really has been a pretty awesome time, friends trying to drag me out of the homebody routine.

The friend that took us to the concert last night starts chemo tomorrow. I am sad for her. But happy I can help her husband out with transportation to/from medical appointments when they are in the area.

Another friend who was my mentor for many years is in need of help and hand holding. Meeting her for a brunch after Christmas.

And yet another friend who lost her Long time BF, well introducing her to hiking groups and such.

Guess I will be busy for awhile.

Yes.  I try to schedule social around things I really like - eating, shopping, scrapbooking.  I do not like the "stand around and talk" kind of social.

Our neighborhood had their annual progressive dinner Saturday. We have never gone. Walking from house to house in the cold & this year rain to stand around and make nice just doesn't sound good to me.

We did go to the annual holiday party at the club. Visited with a few friends, ate good, free food, had a couple drinks then I was ready to get my jammies on.

The progressive dinner sounds like a way to see everyone's Christmas decor.

I know, right? It started at 4 PM and lasted all night into the wee hours. They had one house for babysitting complete with an appearance by Santa. Ugh. It just sounded like so much work, even to go. A house would host ****tails/appetizers, another for main, another for dessert, and another for an after party, and a sign-up sheet to bring things. It sounds like things got a little wild...and by wild I mean drunk...because items were left at various houses. 1 earring, jackets, scarves, ice coolers, etc. How do you forget your jacket when it's freezing out? Drunk.

Seems like it'd be easier to close the street and have a block party.

They do similar things like that in the summer. We went once when it was hosted by our neighbor across the street and I brought a veggie salad. It was fun but since then, they started renting bouncy houses and other things for the kids and charging attendees. My kids are too old for that crap and I'm not going to pay for someone else's, so we just stay home.

Oh, and they micromanage the sign-up sheet. They pulled that crap with me for the annual First Day of School Bus Stop Cheers/Tears. I put down I would bring "some sort of breakfast sweets." The Type A personality in charge emailed me and wanted me to be more specific. So I responded "probably muffins." She wrote back and wanted to know what kind. I didn't respond.
