Jojo got sent home sick. She has a cold. I checked for a fever this morning and she did not have one and wanted to go to school but the teacher didn't like her cough.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I'm keeping #2 home until 11 for his "24 hours of symptom free" as required. So far we haven't caught the stomach bug yet, but I'm not holding out much hope for avoidance.
Yesterday, the preschool classes got to visit a kindergarten classroom. DS did a worksheet while he was in there. I was informed that he's definitely ready for kindergarten.
So, yesterday my boss asked me to lie to the government for a form of work-related (having a job work - not working in my field). We knew when I started with her that I wasn't qualified for the coverage (private work safety insurance coverage) because as a private contractor I need more than one source of income. I work full time with this clinic.
We've known this for 5 months. I was told that it wasn't a big deal (fail on my part. Didn't get it in writing), so I didn't think anything of it. Regulations say I'm not responsible and they are, so that is that.
Fast forward to yesterday. She sits me down and tells me that she's not covering me anymore because if she continue to I will legally be an employee rather than a contractor. And that if I don't find some way to get it changed she will revoke my contract (it's an at-will) and I will be out of a job. She basically told me that I need to give false information to the government agency so that they will cover me.
I knew she was crooked all along, but this is above and beyond. If I don't do something illegal I will be out of a job.
Yup. After she left I got 2 texts telling me not to contact the government agency until after the holidays so that 'we can find something helpful after you decide your approach' and 'I'm sure that we can find a collaborative approach to resolve this; lets talk after you've generated some ideas'.
I have a great idea. I was headhunted the other day and hopefully will have an offer before the new year. That sounds like a great idea!
(of course, if that doesn't happen I will need to figure something else out)
FNW, glad #2 is better. Hopefully no one else will get it. The flu is hitting hard this year, and it's the strain that was in the vaccine. Georgia has the highest rate of confirmed cases in the continental US.
SB, have fun at the party.
TRUDY, YAY for the bonus!
IKWTDS, be safe, enjoy being with your sister.
CHEF, you have a smart son, he's like his mom.
CZECH, can't wait to see pictures.
Had to use the heavy pain killer last night, it helped a lot. Unfortunately, it was my last one. I'll have to go to the doctor if I need more.
It's raining. Again.
Was at Walmart last night, they're already putting out a little of the spring stuff.
YAY!
Happy Thursday.

Tig, you really need to report the improprieties. You do not want to be a scapegoat. In the US being a whistle blower can protect you even an at will contractor, which you are apparently not since the boss wants you to lie so he/she can claim that status.

My work SS is a fellow Dolphins fan. I got a cool dolphins bag made of Jersey material.
No one took pics and one person flipped the bird, lol. I hope all the sick people are feeling better!
I'll save it. Look up The Chophouse and they'll have 2 other restaurants listed. Your pick!
Holy crap! They all look good. Chop house is right off the Highway but am game for any of them. But you are not paying for me. We can go dutch in an Irish sort of way.

It was easier to clean when everyone was at work and school.

I would report it. Specifically to the ethics board of our regulatory body, but I have no proof; nothing in writing. Just hints, winks and innuendo. "I can't tell you what to do but ... just don't share certain information ..."
"Perhaps schedule another conversation with me prior to going to WS, after you've thought about our conversation. I think it might be helpful, once youve decided your approach"
"I'm hopeful we can collaborate an approach to resolve this"
Nothing useful in either text. Everything else verbal. She's not an idiot.
Got trained en route to grandma's. Train moves and I end up at the front of the line. A minute or two passes and I start hearing honking. Then I hear a train horn and realize that there are some Darwin award candidates blocking the tracks. I quickly evaluate the intersection to see if I can cross safely even though the light is red because I don't want to be in a collision. Light turned green at that moment so I hit the gas and took off.
Get to Walmart with DS so he can do his Christmas shopping and spend his birthday money. My parents, DS, and I get out of the car and are treated the sight of this female turning onto the sidewalk between the handicap spots and continuing to drive! It's very obviously a sidewalk so guessing she was impaired somehow.
The cashier at Trader Joe's told me that an elderly person drove their car through the glass doors. Fortunately no one was hurt. While I was there, a man parked his car on the sidewalk and into the opened doors and left it there while he did his shopping.

I told GG I'd use up the gift certificate. I have 2!

Yeah, I didn't read that as entitled. It sounds like he needed some help.
In other news, why is it that it is impossible to get McDonald's to cut open a bagel, put cream cheese on it, close it back up and cut it in half? Oh - they also have to grab the right bagel. Jeepers creepers! Twice now it's been a debacle! If there was a Timmies in the area I would totally do that instead, but apparently I have to get a job somewhere closer to TH.

it's a health code law thing. Can't have the workers using sharp knives. Of course they could solved that by getting pre sliced.

Sometimes they are sliced in half, other times not. It's a bit of a gamble. Yesterday they had to try three times. I finally caught a manager and had her go stand there and watch them do it.
I bet the guy behind me who ordered two got my rejects.
