Totally fogged in today. One of my friends just barely missed getting T-boned by a tractor-trailer. She was stopped at a light, and when it turned green for her to make a left turn, out of an abundance of caution she waited a couple of seconds, and sure enough this huge rig barrels through the red light. Her guardian angel was working overtime for her!

I had that happen once. I hesitated for just a split second - for no reason really. And a semi blew through the red light going probably 60+ mph. I would have been dead. No doubt about it.
This happens at one of the intersections I use to get to work all the time. I'll be be turning left on a yellow and wait (with people honking behind me) because I know that some little stupid sports car is going to run the red. I'm always right.
Well, that was an eventful weekend. My phone's battery gave up on Sunday so I got my upgrade that I've been sitting for who knows how long. DH had an upgrade available so he took advantage of it. Turned out Sprint was running a promo where if we added a third line, DH's phone would be $20 cheaper per month and the third line wasn't going to cost extra. We decided to go for it and make the third line officially a house phone and an earned privilege for DS. It was made abundantly clear that if someone's phone must be sent for a repair that that person will be using the house phone. DS was told that over time, it will become his phone IF he can prove that he can handle the responsibility of having a phone.
It's a smartphone - Motorola e5 Play. I've locked it down as much as I could. International calling has been blocked. I have not signed into Google Play so he cannot download apps - much to his dismay. I need to thoroughly look into it and ensure that he will not be able to charge stuff to our Sprint account. Going to do more research into a really good kid's mode app to install. The one on his tablet (Kids Place) leaves enough to be desired that I don't want to use it for the phone - namely, it allows the sidebar on his tablet to open and him to install apps via Google Play even though Google Play is not an approved app within Kids Place. Any recommendations on such an app would be great.
I usually pause, too, before starting into an intersection. But there is one pet peeve that I have. When making a left on a green light, not a arrow but one where you go when it's safe, and the guy in front sits there behind the line, waiting for a red light. Then NO ONE gets to go. It's what they do back here. DH does it, too, and it drives me crazy. In Cali, we go out into the intersection and wait that way when it does turn yellow/red we and the two cars behind us get to go as well.

It's illegal to block an intersection. By pulling into the intersection and sitting in the middle of it you are technically blocking it.

Interesting. My interpretation if blocking is if you cannot clear the intersection before your light turns red, thus preventing cross traffic from flowing.

I do that, too.
Maybe not way out in the intersection, but enough to be able to turn.

Your vehicle must clear the inteseinters before light turns red. I'm surprised you didn't know this .Heck in Alexandria the cops sit at the intersection s all the time to catch people.

The front tires of the vehicle must be past the crosswalk before the light turns red. My rear tires are past it while waiting to turn left. I worked in Alexandria 6 years and never had a problem. Heck, I've driven this way for 40 years and never had a problem.
I haven't come up with anything indicating it was illegal to proceed into intersection while waiting to make a left turn, but I did find a couple articles that said you can:

Drive down King Street and try it now.

30 minute class at the gym turned into an hour. The owner/trainer tried to kill us. She's well into her 60's and can beat anyone in the gym into the ground.
Good evening, House is all torn up, old carpet is almost gone, backsplash is on, they will add grout and till the bathroom tomorrow and hopefully the upstairs carpeted tomorrow and next day. Then they can do the down stairs. They have to let the wood acclimate to the temperature of the house before they can lay it. Hopefully it will all be done by next week.

There used to be a 70 year old guy around here that could do cardio's better than men half his age. He dropped dead of a heart attack at 72.
Go to the gym anyway.
If that doesn't make sense, well, that's my night for ya..

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.

I'm not sure the intersections in Old Town are large enough but if they are, I'm sure I've done it.
