We have MORE snow! No school again as well. Those poor kids are going to be in school in late June..

SIL was on his way to work this morning and slid his truck off the road before he got two blocks from home. It is so darn icy out there! He's okay, the truck, well..it's out of the ditch again.

Hope everyone is having a better day. And it IS Thursday!

Yikes! Sounds like a rough start to the day.

We are enjoying sunshine again today, however rain is moving in this weekend.

At least it will warm up.

Happy Thursday.

DS is on spring break next week and the week after then only NINE more weeks of preschool and I'll have a kindergartner! Yikes!

Carnival this weekend. DS is excited. I told him we'll buy the wristband but he can use his own money for the games and he pouted. He asked why and I told him that that's what his money is for - buying stuff he wants. He then proclaimed that the games aren't worth it. Well, duh, but that hasn't stopped you the previous two years when we were paying. We direct him to the guaranteed win for kids games so he can walk away with something. Depending on his mood, we'll let him play some of the non-guaranteed win games if he actually has a chance. His two favorites are the ones where he gets to fish for sharks and pick ducks. Grandma told him to not come home with another goldfish. Not a problem, we'll steer him away from that one.

Speaking of goldfish ... any ideas on what we can put Nemo in? He's growing and getting too big for the large critter keeper (the plastic boxes with plastic vented lids, usually used for rodent transport) we have him in. Grandma isn't allowed to have an aquarium per her lease so semantics matters. What's bigger than a critter keeper but still not an aquarium? I'm shocked Nemo is still alive. Usually fish won at carnivals and such are so stressed they die quickly. DS sure picked a healthy fish.

No aquarium? Keep it at your house?

I had a huge flower vase I used as a fish bowl.

It was funny, because of the shape of the vase, if the fish was on the opposite side from you, it looked huge. On the same side it was normal sized.

We don't have a place to put it at the in-laws'.

A vase is an idea. I'll have to browse Walmart. Thanks!

QM,update. Massive tumor in her stomach. Surgeons decide tonight if she even is strong enough for a surgery. Is it cancer? Who knows. My sister called all panicked. Told her to take a breath. The woman is 90.

Is it making her uncomfortable?  Is she in pain?

I'm confused, why is it grandma's anyway? Wouldn't your son want it with him at your house?

Oh my! At 90, she may not be strong enough for surgery. I am so sorry.

DS is at grandma's most of the time. We have limited space here and he deserves room to run and play. It sucks but that's the way it is right now. It's not healthy for him to be cooped up inside all day. Grandma has a backyard he can frolic in at his whim.

Such a great option Chef!  I remember the younger days of DS and just having no room for things.  Plus exciting for him to go to grandma's house for exciting stuff.

He's the king of the castle so no complaints from him ;) My uncle teaches him how to fix stuff so he's getting a good practical education too.

Yes and no. He officially lives with us but has always spent a lot of time at grandma's even when we had our own place. From the time he could talk, he'd beg to go to grandma's. She's widowed and likes having him around because he helps her out and keeps her young (her words). She also likes that he keeps her company when no one else is home. She's 83 so we're content to let them have all the time together they want. He's very much attached to grandma, always has been.

Now that he's older, my uncle likes teaching him how to do stuff around the house and taking him out. Those two are inseparable. Plus, my dad loves being a grandpa and is having a ball doing all the kid things again. Between my dad and uncle, he ends up with a full schedule of stuff to do and places to go. So, it's an unconventional way of parenting but it works. He gets to learn and do a whole lot of stuff since he has so many people in his life. I love it.

Who knows.  My brother is going up there this morning.  She is already a disaster.  I don't see any good ending with it.

She wants the surgery. Another brother called and is groaning about it.

Oh boy. I wonder who talked her into that.

My MIL waxed and waned over chemo. She really didn't want it, but SIL and her friends talked her into it. The chemo killed her, and she was "only" 80.

What do the doctors think about surgery, trudy?

That's my thought too. She may not even be a candidate for surgery depending on her overall health.

Ultimately, it's her decision. I think it's a bad one if the odds for her surviving the surgery aren't good.

We walked this road with my grandpa. Decided against surgery. He wouldn't have survived it. There was no point in putting him through the risk of surgery and the pain of recovery if he did beat the odds and survived.

Ok. Gotcha, I was not understanding.

Yeah, I spent a lot of time with my mawmaw. Just about every weekend, and most summers.

Two of my uncles were still in school when I was born, remember both of their graduations.

It was like having two older brothers.

Good for your DS.

He will always treasure this time.
