So high 50's and sunny.  Did some chores and yard work.  Waiting for DD to get out of the shower.  Going to Newburyport this afternoon to bring that sail to the SeaBag store.  Then have an early dinner and walk around the shops.  Newburyport is a seaside town.

Really nice here too. Worked out a little, housework, groceries. Leaving soon to see a movie with DD and probably dinner.

Cute bag!

It was gorgeous here today. I threw down fertilizer and pre-emergent weed stuff and puttered around the yard. The gardeners came and took care of the grass. Then DH broke the news that the temps are going to drop after this weekend. Killjoy.

I played 2 hours of pickleball this am with some new folks. Then , we had our Basketball Pizza party at Pizza Hut with our 5th/6th grade team of 24 girls! So, now I am tired!

It was gorgeous and sunny here until about 15 minutes ago.

Rain is moving in.

Cleaned house. Had the windows open for a while, but then the boys started mowing. Had to close them.

Not sure what I'll do the rest of the day.

I put preen down in non lawn areas that get awful weeds.  So happy that is done.

Went to a chili cook-off in Comfort, to be
a judge. 19 entries - some of which were
really, really good. There was one out-
standingly awful pot - no heat, no aroma,
no taste, no color, and no bite. I bet it
was a new (local) cook. Hope they got a
lot of hints from the regular cooks.

That bag is super cute!

Momala, judging all that chili would give heartburn something awful, but I bet it's fun.

It is 70 degrees at 10:27pm.

I can hear rumbling of thunder in the distance, hopefully it will rain soon.

Lilly ~
Actually, competition chili is not
that hot. It depends on color,
aroma, taste, after-taste, and
consistency. We only had to
judge 19 chilies, and with one
exception, they were all pretty
good.

The judges always cleanse their
palates between each cup, so
we judge each cup on its own
merits. Palate cleansers are
usually saltines, mini cheddar
cubes, celery, and (maybe)
white grapes.

Most judges know enough to be
very discriminating about each
spoonful they take. With 19
cups to judge, imagine taking
19 spoonfuls of your favorite
chili, and then trying to decide
which spoonful you liked best!
We judge each chili on its own
merits. We don't compare any
bowl to any other bowl. Thank
goodness for computers, to help
us compile all the scores !

Chili, in general, gives me heartburn.

It isn't the spice.

I saw a recipe for chili online that includes putting oatmeal in chili! Never heard of that before.

It's a filler.

It would thicken it, too.
