I got the following invite via Facebook this morning.
They will even fire up the grill if you choose to bring steaks!!!!
Well everyone....time to let the🐱out of the bag. After 14 years in Nashville, K and I will be making the move to be closer to family. On April 19th, we’re scheduled to close on our house and then head to the great state of Texas! We have made some amazing friends here, friends that have become family and we will miss Nashville. We met and fell in love here, got married here...Nashville will always hold a special place in our hearts. We’ll be staying with my awesome mother in law Nfor a while, then eventually settling near DXXX which is about 30 minutes from N and just over 3 hours from my mom. It’s bittersweet, but we both look forward to this next adventure! We covet your prayers during this transition. Prayers for the sale of the house, packing, travel and jobs!
We are going to have a get together at our place 4/13 from 5-9ish...potluck style (gluten free please)Come and say “see you soon”. Stay the whole time or just drop by. We’ll have drinks and chips and we can even fire up the grill. We want to see you all before we leave! Please text/message me if you plan on stopping by!
Thank you for making our time in Nashville so special! We love you all!
K and S

Am invite to their going away party, that they are throwing for themselves, but the guests get to pick up the tab! Well, except for chips. They will pay for those...

Potlucks are normal here, so, I guess I'd bring a bowl of guac for those chips, and maybe some brownies.

No, I'm mad at her anyway. I did her wedding a couple of years ago (for free) and she took serious advantage of me. I still don't have the bulk of my décor that I used for her wedding. She just "doesn't know where it is"...

Are they gluten intolerant/ health issues irritated by gluten? If not I would be tempted to bring something yummy for everyone else to enjoy. My dil can’t eat gluten, but she can he best gluten free cake that is not only better then what a bakery makes but better then regular cakes.

I'm pretty sure they are on the gluten free bandwagon. I know for a fact that her wedding 2 years ago was NOT gluten free.

In which case she won't know if htey are gluten free or not!
My son has celiac's so we are quite aware of gluten and gluten products, gluten ingredients, etc. However, gluten FREE is a bit of misnomer. I doubt anyone is gluten FREE. One can be gluten reduced but there is gluten lurking all over the place where you least expect it and most people are ingesting some gluten. Also, you aren't going to die and fall down in an anaphylactic reaction ingesting gluten.
As for my son's diet, I taught him how to eat and it is no big deal to do it if you know how. And, the whole world doesnt' have to revolve around his diet. He learned early on that HIS issue is something he can deal with matter of factly and everyone doesn't have to fall down to accomodate his diet. Now, it is nice if others are aware that there are people who have this issue and can bring dishes or prepare edible dishes as a courtesy.
I remember being at a neighborhood party and it had ended and I volunteered to clean up. There was a half eaten muffin sitting on an unattended plate on the ground next to a chair so I threw it away. The neighbor it belonged to was so upset with me because that her very special gluten free muffin she brought with her so she would have something to eat. Well, sorry toots, party was over and we're cleaning up. Next time stick the thing in your bag if you wanted to take it home, or announce that you aren't through or leave it with someone who could watch it if it's that important to you. sheesh. That was the last time I volunteered.
So a mutual friend of ours texted me this weekend. It was a screenshot of an ad on the Facebook page "Everything Wedding in Middle TN". WITH ALL OF MY STUFF that she didn't return!!!!! You know, the stuff she didn't know what happened to? UGH. I sent her a text letting her know that I wanted it all back. She told me that she didn't realize that it was all mine and that I am welcome to come pick it up, but she really needed it gone since they were moving...
