So who is getting snow, who is getting rain, and who just wants to get out of dodge?

We are under severe storm warnings, "with the potential for cloud to ground lightening, hail, and tornados".

I'm in the want to get out group.

We had hail in south Texas yesterday.
Fortunately, no damage to crops or
structures. Followed by torrential
rain. Today its bright and sunny.

I have a choice, guys. Indonesia for my winter vacation or Egypt? Both are scheduled structured group trips. Egypt is a hop-on hop-off bus style trip (with a cool sounding Nile cruise) while Indonesia is a tropical sailing trip. Lots of beaches and water.

Thoughts? Which would you do?

Beaches and water will always get my vote.

First check out the US State Dept website for warnings.  Just be careful.

My choice would be the sailing trip.

Went for the final check on the leg today. Whoops. Looks like there is a little pus, so antibiotics on the wound and orally, some kind of pack to take down the fever in the area, full bandage and back tomorrow.... Well... Anyway, no pain or anything. I notice the bandage seems to have slipped down a bit during the day.... Won't mess with it.

Tiganello both places are very exciting and, I believe, possibly very dangerous. Both countries have active groups who target tourists. Even a structured group style can be iffy. Better to target a bus load rather than one traveler?? No matter which you choose (or neither) I hope you have a good vacation. Now that I have scared you. LOL

Karl you will get threw the Pus   as I will.  I agree with the assessment of the tourist thing.

The only part of Indonesia  I've  been  to was Jakarta both at winter and summer. It was very  hot and lots of mosquitoes. My daughter  has been  to Bali quite a few times  and  really  enjoyed  it.

I had a two week training class with a woman from Cairo. The stories she would tell me....

I'd go with Indonesia. And believe me, the pyramids and Sphinx are on my bucket list.

Remember part of Indonesia is Muslim so keep in mind about choice of clothing, Bali I believe is Hindu. They are very friendly and sweet people and never had felt danger or hostility.

I think the same holds true in Europe when touring the Catholic churches. I remember a box of scarves and shawls at the door with a sign asking that women exercise modesty when entering. I know whenever I travel to a foreign country I tend to be a little more modest out of respect for the natives.

That is true fnw, also India you don’t wear shorts, tank tops etc. maybe tourist areas may be more relaxed at least the resort areas, Bali my daughter wore a bikini on the beach, but wore cotton skirts into the village

Geez.

The hassle of either sound so not worth it.

Go to the keys, lay on the beach and sip colorful drinks.

Yep.

Groups, dress codes, possible abduction.

Well, I'm in Canada - getting to the Keys is a whole different kind of hassle!

You gotta have a passport, get on a plane, land, get to your resort, change into a bathing suit, take a towel to the beach, pick out a beach chair, order a drink, and sit.

Just sayin, there is always hassle when traveling, but dress codes, checking safe to travel to lists, and group itineraries doesn't have to the hassle to deal with.

But this is just my opinion.

Yeaaaaaahh, well, you have never been a foreigner travelling through US customs.... now there's a hassle. And I'm Canadian! We have border agreements in place!

Besides, Canada has travel advisories out for the US on 2 contagious diseases as well as a reminder that Zika virus is still popping up in American travelers. The only warning for Indonesia is to not go to Paupau. Who in their right mind would go there anyways?? And it's nowhere near the island I'll be on. The Maldives - an option I rejected - warns 'high degree of caution'. Apparently for petty crimes. Egypt warns to avoid non-essential travel with the exception of the resort parts of the country and other areas in the northern part of the country.

Putting on a skirt or a hat to be respectful is not a hassle for me.

The last time I flew to California I spent 2 hours waiting for a special inspection of my luggage. Random choice, I guess. Definitely a hassle - they had to take my suitcase off the plane to inspect it. Then put it back on. Not only a hassle, but really scary.

India wasn’t much fun either, I honestly can’t tell you to much about Indonesia since my daughter and SIL paid for someone to go through for me, he took my passport and the money to pay for my visa and told me to meet him at the luggage area. I passed the official who asked for my passport and I got a little nervous and told him I gave it to some guy to take to customs for me and he said alright and let me through.

A friend of mine works with Doctors Without Borders - it took them months to get the India visas, even though it was only supposed to take 6 weeks.

My hassle when I travel is on a different level.

Where are the handicap parking, bathroom, and is there an elevator if I need to go up or down stairs?

Will the funiture be tall enough, firm enough, will I have room for my leg that doesn't bend properly?

Are there wheelchair rentals?

Is there air conditioning?

And that's before I even book anything.
