We do 90% of our grocery shopping at Kroger. I have learned to work the fuel points program.
(I filled up this morning and paid $1.65 per gallon. A buck off the regular price.)
We get double fuel points when we buy gift cards at Kroger, because Paul is an employee, and lives with us.
Last week, I got a coupon, for 4 times the fuel points when you bought gift cards.
I looked at Wayne and said, "You want that Honda lawnmower from Home Depot, right? And the cats need their food restocked. I'm going to snag a $500 Home Depot gift card, and a $100 PetSmart gift card...And score us a bunch of fuel points." "Go for it!", says Wayne.
The month of April fuel points came in at a little over 3000. I filed up a couple of weeks ago, and got my dollar off. I filled up today, and got a dollar off. And, I still have enough April points, to fill up before I head to Ohio to visit my Mom, on May 16th, and get a dollar off. Happy dance!
Now, I'm collecting the fuel points for May. Sadly, the only place I will be able to use them is when I visit my sister Irene, outside Columbus, Ohio. She has a Kroger nearby, and shops there all the time. And is as crazy about getting fuel points, as I am. LOL!
I'm just wondering, since I know there are several grocery chains that have fuel point programs...do any of you go out of your way to collect them?
That is what DS does. He buys gift cards and such at the grocery store to get the points. He keeps 10 gal cans of gas in his garage to fill before his points expire. Once he moves into his new house he will need it all to mow the 7 acres.

I wish I could convince Wayne to do that! My Beast only takes 14 gallons, at the most, when I fill him up. I'm allowed to buy up to 35 gallons, at a fill up. We should look into buying a couple of larger gas cans, and really take advantage of the low price!
Thanks for the idea, IKWTDS!
Okay, for the second part if this story. (I got distracted, and didn't have time to explain how I double dip!)
We pay most everything, from food, to gas, to utility bills, to clothes, etc. It all goes on our Visa-Cash Rewards Card.
I make a minimum of $50 a month, in cash rewards.
Poor old Bank of America, has never seen a penny, in interest, because I pay it off in full, at the end of each month.
(Don't try this trick, unless you have good handle on how much you really spend, each month. The day you can't pay that credit card, in full, and end up paying interest, is the day you should NOT do this. JMHO)

I get away with it, because I'm old...and evil!
And that my dear is how to handle CC points. You are the master.

So, you have a choice on whether you take the points for fuel, or food?
Is this with a credit card? Or with a grocery chain points program?
My original question was about fuel points, earned at the grocery store. Be it Kroger, Giant Eagle, or whatever is in your area.
Please explain. Thanks!
Yes. At the grocery store I use most, Food City, you can use your points toward fuel or a percentage off your grocery bill.
In this town, the only gas station that honors the points is out of the way for me, so I choose to use the points toward groceries.
We do use a chain gas station for gas, and like with the grocery store, we all use the same number. So we build up points there, as well.
Once we get a nice big amount off, the cars that need gas most get filled up.
I don't have a credit card.

You can't fill one, move the other up and fI'll it?
Ours allows that. As long as you don't turn the pump off between cars.

I wish we had some sort of points
that we could use for gas or for
groceries.
One of our friends back east (NJ)
used to use all his points and take
the director of a homeless shelter
shopping at the local supermarket.
it's amazing how much the director
could buy to help the shelter.
