I didn't get as much done yesterday as I had hoped.
I wasted two and a half hours on an oil change and tire rotation at the Ford dealership.
Never again! If Wayne has the bright idea to take The Beast to Ford for service, he can bloody well do it himself. I'll go to Road Runner and be done in 30 minutes or less.
My side garden is still weedy. I just got back from my walk, so I might as well have at it while I'm sweaty and gross.
Morning! Big brothers birthday today! So I make a batch of brownies? Let them cool. Yummy smell. I cut into them? Whole thing crumbles! Ugh! No treat for him today. :(
Hallelujah! The rain has finally stopped! It's breezy but the sun peeks through periodically. Just finishing up some chores around the house before hopping in the shower to head to work. Thankfully, it's a short day today.
Sorry about the brownies, trudy, but, happy birthday to your brother.
FWM, sorry about the 2.5 hours at the dealer. I never take mine to a dealer unless it's new and it needs to be that to keep the warranty valid or there is a recall on something.
Crumbly brownies just need ice cream and caramel on top.
The Ford service always takes way longer than necessary.
Yay for sun.
It's sunny, here, too.
Happy Tuesday.

Morning everyone! Reminded myself this morning that the downsides to basement suites is that I can't tell if it is raining or not. I know that it rained at some point because I can see the drops on the plant leaves around the house, but I can't see if there are actual droplets coming down.
Not sure what to do today. Need a bed of some sort. My boxspring wouldn't come through the small doorways of this little antique house, so I need something to put my mattress on. Either a futon base or one of those bedframes from Ikea that has the platform and doesn't need a box spring. A mattress on the floor is something I did in college - I don't need to be doing it today too.
I also need to grocery shop. I've slipped off the SBD bandwagon and need to get myself back on. It's the evenings that kill me. It feels like the need to eat turns me into some sort of mindless zombie! It's like my mind is working like Southern Belle's mexican-forcing friend!
Trudy, the Cupcake place sounds perfect. Not just for birthdays, but for whenever cupcakes are desired.
Oh, fun fact. The SIL who decided that she doesn't want to be part of our family (except DB) and DB at CHristmas are at it again. DB texted mom a 1 line mother's day greeting. Little sh*t. I've booked my trip to Indonesia next winter. Done with the family Christmas crap.

Counselor wants to talk later about #1 and the rest of the year. The records were sent over to the Catholic School. I would like to read what his teacher said in her narrative.
I have access to his school records on line and there are no disciplinary matters. Interesting though, this year they did not excuse the boys' absence when we were returning from a trip. It was always excused in the past.
The higher in grades they get, the less the school will excuse.
By high school, if they miss one class, it'll count against graduation.
My kids had to take the obituary in for their grandfather or they wouldn't be excused for 1 day.
Wanted to take them to my brother's graduation when he got his Ph.d, they would not excuse that.

His teacher said he was jabbing his arm with a pencil out of frustration. Sent him to the nurse. NO marks anywhere. Teacher told counselor. Counselor said no marks. Tried to give him coping skills.
I gave her an earful. Science test last week? #1 got 10 out of 10 right. Entire class? Only 4 kids passed. PASSED. So teacher blamed herself for using the county's materials (WTF?), went over all the answers, then made entire class take it again. (#1 got another 10 out of 10). Counselor had no idea. She was pist. And teacher's math class? They are behind and need to meet twice as often until the end of the year to make up. Which throws off everyone's schedule and #1 (and #2) have to have their math classes twice as much. No biggie, both love Math and more time spent in math means less time #1 has to be with his home teacher. But it proves his concerns...too much messing around and not enough time learning...were right. Counselor didn't know what to say....news to her.
And let's talk about the noise level....#2 is in classroom across the hallway...they have to close their door a lot because #1's class is so loud....
I asked the principal if #1 could be moved to a different class for the remainder of the school year. We'll see what she says.
The entire 5th grade was supposed to go on a field trip to the caverns. #1 wasn't going to go. But field trip was cancelled. So today they created some STEM project which was supposed to be "fun" (i.e., more messing around) to make up for it. #1 wanted to opt out because he wasn't going to field trip anyway. Not an option. So he's not happy today. I kept referring to it as a boondoggle to counselor. Got a chuckle out of her.
FNW, look up what is required by your state vs what the school is requiring. If it's like it is here, there is way, way, way more required by the school than the state. And it will only be for the sake of getting federal dollars.
It sounds like both the boys need an accelerated curriculum.
And public schools are all about mediocre now.
No one can get left behind, so the smarter must slow down for the, this ain't gonna be politically correct, dumber ones.
I really hope you can get them in a better school.

Strangely, I agree with Lily. (hell has frozen over). Get those boys into a school (some public schools offer it) with accelerated learning or gifted programs. And file a complaint with the school board. Having to take a class 2x daily (monthly?) extra to make up for the lack of work done in the time given? Not okay.
Also, is STEM different for you guys? Here it is Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. They should be doing something curriculum related there. We have whole schools designed on STEM for immersion in those disciplines. It's very effective. It's not like they are making a paper mache volcano ... what is yours?
Principal is transferring him to another class starting next week at my request. So hopefully that will make him happy at least for the rest of the school year.
The boys are in part-time AAP (advanced program) and advanced Math. They go to their various "specials" for those programs and love it. It's #1's home room that he hates. And home room teaches science. Well, she's supposed to anyway. The principal will transfer his room room to the teacher who he has for Math. He likes her and that math class. Hopefully her home room will be as structured and disciplined as her math class is.
