Got up at oh-dark-thirty to drive up to the highway to cheer our Wounded Warriors on as they drove in a bus caravan from BAMC (Brook Army Medical Center) to the coast for their annual fishing trip. In years past, they left BAMC around 8:00 a.m., so they passed through my town around 8:45 or so, and there were lots and lots of people lining the streets with flags and cheers and waves. This year, the powers that be upped the departure time, so the vets would have more time for fishing. When they rolled through my town at 5:50, it was still pitch black. I parked my car in the post office driveway, with my headlights still on, so they could see that there was someone cheering them on. I got a kick out of the motorcycle/SUV escort - they all "bleeped" their sirens as they passed me - just to let me know they appreciated seeing a little old lady with a cane standing and waving our flag, all by herself. Wish more people in our town had gotten up early.
Now I'm back home, and took a two hour nap. Should be good for the rest of the day.
We were leaving on a trip once when the WWII vets for their Honor Tour were coming to DC and got to greet them along with the Girl Scouts! These men deserve praise!
That was great of you to do that, Momala. Was there any advertising of this event and change in time?
It's a hot, hot day out. It's only 82, but the heat index, or real feel, is 95.
I've got some cleaning to do, then the rest of my day will be free.

It started out sunny today but cloud cover has taken over. I don't think we're expecting rain but who the heck knows at this point. Temps were supposed to rise to the mid 70s.
I will soon be doing a happy dance in the parking lot but I have been doing one all day in the apartment. The b/witch below me is moving out today!!! There will be peace in the valley tonight. I'm ecstatic. Although, they've been making their mark since they got here early this morning. It's one big party with lots of screaming and obscenities in the yard below my balcony and the door slamming has been non-stop but when they do slam it, I just laugh out loud really, really loud. It's pissing them off even more. This neighborhood will be the quietest once they're finally gone.
Just been puttering around the house this morning otherwise. Was supposed to work today but didn't feel like going in so I called off.
Starting this past Monday, the smell I talked about before has come back really bad. I haven't smelled anything since mid February. It makes me wonder if it's the bitch downstairs and if it will be gone once she's gone. Time will tell. I'm still going to look for another place though. I'm not happy with the way this place is being managed, or I should say lack thereof.
True Green RANG the doorbell at 7 a.m..Seriously? on a Saturday morning? I knew he was coming but he doesn't need me. I think it's a customer service thing to want to talk to the home owner but ringing a doorbell that early on the weekend is stupid, waking people up. Any tick and other insect treatment. Earlier in the week a different Tru Green person came to put down fertilizer and left the notification on a plastic stake and he also took the stake tossed the cardboard "flag notification" and tossed it on my lawn so he could place his notification on it. I am going to call and complain. That is all just rude and inconsiderate.
Met friends for lunch, friends of Mom's. They live near me so we meet for lunch once every few months. I am so glad we both want to keep the relationship of. I really like these people.
I cleaned the pollen off the deck and cleaned the table out there and then put up my new deck umbrella. Really liking it. My house is cleaned. Dog walked but may take him for another walk this evening. The weather is beautiful and the bugs aren't bad, even our black May flies seem to be a much lower population this year.
No need to make dinner tonight. DD is out shopping with a friend and when she gets back she will go to her father's and I am stuffed from lunch. I do believe the neighbors will have a fire in their outdoor pit tonight if the breeze calms down so that is where I will be later.

And now I've got my back, ribs, knees, and hips screaming at me.
Oh well. It had to be done.
Aaron is making spaghetti for dinner.
