Pop the tequila and pass the guacamole — the US has struck a trade deal with Mexico that will avert tariffs on imports.

 

“I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico,” President Trump tweeted Friday night.

 

“The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended,” he added.

 

“Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border,” he said.

 

“This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!”

 

Tariffs had been set to begin on Monday if Mexico didn’t meet US demands to stop the surge of America-bound asylum seekers.

He knows that all a man has to do is to stay strong and not give into any bluffs. He is certainly getting a lot done. Too long has the US knuckled under to show they are the "good guy" or "just want to get along." Why do I always think of Obama when I think of these phrases?? LOL

What kind of measures is Mexico going to take? I'm trying to envision our borders taking 'stronger measures' and not sure what that would look like? (maybe more cops on horseback along that Winnipeg section ....)

 6K additional border patrol at their southern border and taking asylum seekers back from the US as they wait for their asylum hearing in the US.

It'd be great if Mexico would actually stop people from crosing their other borders, and stop helping those jumpers move to our border.
