Burger King vegetarian burgers

I vegetarian friend has been buying the brand of burgers from whole foods, aka Amazon, that burger king is using for their latest menu item. She said they are really good and smell and taste like real burgers. I checked the nutrional label and see the burger by itself has 450mg of sodium and the plain burger with lettuce and bun at burger king has 959mg sodium.  Yikes! Of course they taste good. I bought 93% fat free Angus patties yesterday and the have only 75mg each.

People are being fooled into thinking that if its vegetarian it must be healthy.

Salt adds the flavor that's missing.
Found out what makes chick fil a taste so good. It isn't pickle juice. It's msg. Lots of it. I'm crushed.

I like Chick Fil A but I die of thirst after eating it. Stopped going.

I love Chick-fil-A. I've never gotten thirsty after eating there. At least not more thirsty than I normally am throughout the day.

I can't do MSG.  I used to be highly allergic, now it merely gives me a headache and I feel blah for a long time.

I don't think I'll understand the vegetarian meat thing.

I mean, you don't want to eat meat, but you want food that tastes like meat.

In the batter for fried Chick? I have only had the grilled and was fine afterwards. MSG makes my stomach bloat and I get extremely gassy. TMI, I know.

I don't get the whole veggie burger thing either.

That is not what this thread is about.  It is about putting alleged healthy food out there that isn't.

Vegetarian meat doesn't kill animals.  Meat flavor doesn't kill animals.

Where does the meat flavor come from?

Same where the fruit flavor in gummy candies come from.  Chemicals.  (also, it doesn't taste like meat).

People like to delude themselves.  Like getting the upsized meal with the extra large fries and topping that off with a Diet Coke!  Lol

If I ate something with that much sodium my ankles would swell.

So rather than eat a great grass-fed, real meat burger, they'd rather eat the chemicals in a veggie burger flavored like meat?

*tilts head to side*

Nothing dies in the harvesting of the chemicals. :P

I love vegetarian food. Both my sister and sister in law are vegan. I'm very open minded about what they eat and don't judge them for it.

That said, IKWTD is right, just because it's vegetarian doesn't mean it's healthy. My sister's favorite are vegan chocolate chips, I send her bags every now and again

Just read my nutrition facts on my morning star veggie burgers (I definitely prefer them over ground beef), and yep, 390 grams of sodium

Also (sorry, not sorry I have a lot of thoughts on this). I would say most people who want to simulate the meat taste have grown up eating meat and are transitioning into vegetarianism. It makes it easier if you can eat things that taste as familiar as possible.
