First Summer Sunday!

Oh my goodness, it's hot and humid. I'm almost praying it will rain, and cool things off.

I skipped my morning walk. Paul had to be at work at 7. And Wayne needed to get going on the grass. He asked me what time he was allowed to start mowing. I said, "According to the law, 7am. " He is out there edging, as I type. I bet my neighbors are thrilled.wink

We're going to pick Cate up at 10, and run to Costco. Then we will play.

Okay, I'd better go feed the flowers in the front yard, before I forget.

I hope everyone has a good day.

And, be careful of the storms!

Man! Last night's storms were crazy.

Lots of limbs down, here.

Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Hi, FWM. Hope it rains a bit for ya.

We've had a couple of sprinkles so far, Lily. Not enough to wet the patio.

But, it sounds like we should get some later on this afternoon/evening.

Since I ran our sprinklers after Wayne finished the mowing...for sure it should rain.wink

If I wanted to make really sure, I'd get out there and wash The Beast! LOL!

That's not going to happen. I'm pooped.

I have an easy dinner planned. St. Louis style ribs, baked in the oven. With oven roasted potatoes and Spinach puff.

I won't have to stand over a hot stove. It all gets baked. That works for me!biggrin

I feel for Wayne. Hot and humid has to mow the grass and edge. I, too, like to get out as early as possible on days like this and get any outside work done. I might just start a bit before 7, too.....

Cloudy and rainy over here on Sunday. Out to lunch with my wife's cousin and her husband. They insisted on taking us out for my 80th which is still a couple of weeks off. Wife's cousin is not in good shape. 77 and starting yet another round of chemo next month. She looks like all get out, but is keeping up a happy face and getting around. Don't know if I could do that or not.

Some of my neighbors will get out at first light in the summer. I totally understand when we have 90° plus days.

I put a pork butt in the crock pot this morning, we had it for dinner.

I don't blame people for wanting to get things done early, either.

My hummingbirds have been very busy today, and thirsty. I've seen 5 at one time at my feeders.

They're zipping all over the yard.

Sold out.
Sold Out !
SOLD OUT ! ! ! !

I've made twelve cases of bread &
butter pickles for the watermelon
stand this season, and I am all
out!

The hardest thing has been to get
the small pickling cucumbers, but
all of a sudden three friends came
over with bushels of cucumbers!
I get the cukes to make the pickles,
and they get a free jar of the
finished product (or more if they
want them). I keep a small jar
of the pickles in the refrigerator at
the stand, and if someone says they
don't know what B&B pickles are, I
give them a sample. 9 out of 10 times,
they buy a jar.

I have enough small cukes to try to
make dill pickles. I have a basic
recipe, but if any of you have a
really good, tried and true, recipe
for dill pickles, please let me know!

Can you tell me how you make your B&B pickles?

I love them, especially with beans and cornbread.

My great grandmother made the best B&B pickles, but no one knows her recipe.

She took it to her grave.

What else do you pickle?

Mawmaw Planzer also put carrots, squash, okra, baby corn, and onions in the B&B pickle brine.

So good.
