Hope it wasn't the bad kind of busy and stressful.

The boys spent the night at my parents' house and went fishing first thing this morning. #1 caught a snapping turtle who thankfully unhooked himself quickly. Lots of nibbles but no bites. Next time! This was their first time fishing and they enjoyed it.
Making enchiladas and fajitas for dinner, the house smells yummy.

He wanted to change his House Insurance company, to save some money.
Allstate, got back to him, and said that he would need to do a few minor improvements, before they could write the policy.(He had been with Farmers)
Conor had to trim back some tree branches, and some bushes, that were up against the house.
No problem. As luck would have it, my neighbor, Steven, was cutting down some limbs, with his pole saw.
He was happy to lend it to me.
Oh, and the back side of Conor's house needs paint. It faces west. It takes a beating, in the Texas sun.
So, I've been helping trim stuff back. And teach my son, how to paint.
I'm so tired, I could cry.
The funny part is, my homeowners insurance, expires, 8/26/2019.
We got the notice today.
They want to raise my rate, to over $3000 a year? Oh, hell no.
I need to shop insurance, on top of everything else.
Shoot. Me. Now!
Whoa!!! $3K/ year??? I wonder if that is due to all the Insurance payouts for the flooding last year? After the snowpocolips we had in 2015 with over 10' of snow and people experiencing ice damns and so property damage, my rate did increase for the 2016 year but then it went back down the following year. I was ticked since I didn't have any claims.

Home owners insurance is crazy expensive in Texas.
When we first moved here, in August of 96, none of the big companies would even take on a new client. I guess there was a bad hail storm in 1995, and the insurance companies lost billions.
So, we started out with US Lloyds, a company we had never heard of. Rates climbed, every year. We had one claim with them. Hail damage...got a new roof. But, we finally switched to Safeco, since we have our car insurance with them. And they have always been very fair with us.
Well, Safeco..when my rate goes from $2553 a year, to $3072 a year, it's time to say hell no. I will find someone cheaper.
Oh, and did I mention the crazy deductibles in Texas?
When we had our home in Ohio, we could choose our deductible. We were young and poor, so we spent a few dollars more, and had a $500 deductible on our house.
You should have seen my jaw drop, when we found out, that you can't do that, in Texas.
Our deductible is 1% of the replacement value of our home. Which has climbed to $290,800. So, deductible #1 is $2908.
There is a second deductible in Texas, for wind and hail damage. It is also 1% of the freaking value of you home! (Insurance folks call that glass coverage, for broken windows.)
So, if we had a wind storm with hail. And had for example, siding peel off, and broken windows, we would have to pay $5816 in deductibles, to get our house fixed.
If that isn't the biggest crock of you know what...I don't know what is.
We sustained hail damage to roof and siding several years ago and got a new roof and upgraded to hardy board siding. We paid the difference and insurance paid for damaged part. Most of the neighbors did the same. All rates went up as a result. We were glad we filed a claim because if we hadn't, we would not have gotten the new stuff and still had to pay the higher premiums. I'm not sure how much it went up or if it's gone up since, but I do remember it went up. And not just our insurance, everyone else's in the area.

Roger that. But, do you pay 2 deductibles, when you make a claim?
I'm just saying, this is crazy.
Between the Property taxes, the Insurance rates, and high sales tax, I'm about ready to move.
No, but we aren't in a hurricane or tornado zone. If we were in a flood zone, there would be flood insurance with a separate deductible. It sounds like your glad damage deductible is for tornado coverage maybe?
I know that our "new" roof had a lifetime warranty which had an exception for damage caused by gale winds which happened last year and we were on the hook for repairs. It was minor and didn't cost much, but interesting about the exception. This was the roofer's warranty, not to do with insurance.
