I woke up at 4am., and felt alert, so there was no point in trying to get anymore sleep.

We did one lap around the duck pond. Started our walk at 5:13am. It was 82 degrees, 88% humidity. I was soaked with sweat when we finished.

I packed Wayne's lunch, and he's off to work.

I'm going to water my plants before the sun starts beating down.

Then, I plan to watch The Tennis, and play with Cate.

Our heat index is supposed to hit 112 to 114 this afternoon. Not good for the poor folks who work outside.cry

I hope everyone has a good day!smile

Good morning. Be careful with that heat, FWM! I woke up early too but laid in bed for a bit thinking, which ended up keeping me awake so I got up.

It's not terribly warm here yet; only 67* but the high for the day should be in the low 90s with plenty of sunshine.

On my second cuppa and settling in to watch the men's quarterfinal. Djokovic is up first. Here we go!!!

Enjoy the day!

I try to be careful, FS. I have a 24oz. insulated cup that I keep filled with ice water. It goes everywhere with me. Even on a quick trip to Kroger.

Heat is the worst between 4pm and 6pm. I always try to hide in the house during those 2 hours.

We have a chance of getting some thunderstorms after 9pm. Fingers crossed. We could use some rain to cool things off.wink

Front yard plants are watered. Let me give the backyard garden a drink, and I'll be ready to watch some tennis.smile

Good morning fwm and fs! Waiting for my boys to come over, it's going to be hot here too. Going to Texas the 2nd week of august to see family. Originally planned for middle of fall, but due to little man's arrival in early October and not wanting to cause dil even more headaches in finding a sitter we changed to august the same time they are on vacation.

Oh my goodness, Lindley, be prepared to sweat. Texas in August is hotter than hell! Make sure to stay hydrated. And avoid outdoor activities during the late afternoon.

I understand why you changed the date for your trip. But, I can't help but feel bad for you.wink

Thanks fwm, I remember growing up and due to school schedule, we always went in August and same with my kids. We are going to San Antonio to see my brother and family. Truth is no matter where we would go, it’s going to be hot 🥵

Very true! I hope you have a nice visit, in spite of the heat.

At least you know what to expect, since you've done it before.wink

Instead of a big vacation, since not only did we go to Disney world wit our kids and families, we also painted the inside and got new flooring, so decided to go cheaper this year. I did checked out a inn in Maine which was absolutely gorgeous, but checked out the prices and it was cheaper to go to HI.

We are planning a trip for next spring.

Little Miss Jewel will be 6 months then, so a beach trip will be just right.

Next year we are going to the outer banks, already reserved the beach house. Baby jewel will love it.

Alert!: Heat - Advisory from 7/9/2019 1:00:00 PM to 7/10/2019 8:00:00 PM

96
°F °C
Sunny
  • Feels Like 114°
  • Wind

It's only 1:30 pm. We haven't hit the hottest time of day yet. This is the pits.

I want to go on vacation, somewhere cool!

But, we're having the siding on the chimneys replaced. Sigh. No vacation for us.

I will head up to Ohio in September, to visit my Mom. But, that doesn't really count.

It's been cooler than normal this summer but my weather app still sends out heat advisories. Pffft. We've been averaging 102-105 lately. Normal summer temp is 113-115. Heat, my sweet patootie.

Yes, but you have low humidity.  That makes it bearable. I don't mind dry heat.

When we moved here in 1996, it wasn't nearly as humid as it is now.

Things have changed in the past 10 years.

And, not for the better.cry

I don't do humidity. It gives me migraines. July, though, is more humid than normal because of monsoon.

I've got a dehumidifier in my apartment, because it is a basement and I don't trust that the house is fully mold free and I don't want to make it worse. It is cooler today because of ocean weather, but still 'wet'. We've had some rain overnight but are supposed to have thunder showers this afternoon. We'll see.

There are two places hotter  then Texas  and that is India  and  Indonesia.  Of course  I may change my mind :)

Here's the thing about weather and places.

I'm used to the weather here. It's hot and humid most of the year.

But when I go to the beach, it's hot and humid in a different way.

The mountains are hot and humid in another way.

90s is blistering to some, 100s are to others.

I feel your pain, FS.

Praying for some rain, to knock the humidity down.

Yes, that hot breeze, isn't much help. Better than nothing. But," not goody good", as Daisy Duck would say.wink

Oh my gosh, I'm starting to hate Disney Jr. Channel.

When did cartoons become so un-fun? Trying to teach a politically correct message?  Every time!  This stinks.

I want the "Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Show!

Portland is really close to Seattle which is close to here ... just sayin'.

Aaaaaand, we've got perfect blue sky. So. There's that. So much for thunder and rain.
