Wow. Will post an article later. Chase is pulling out of the Canadian credit card market and in doing so erased all balances. Canada business laws must have been extremely unfavorable for Chase to do so.

This must cost them less than the cost of doing business in Canada. Not really good for credit options in Canada that the company feels it better to cut its losses and run rather than do business there.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Exactly. And the Canadians will feel the impact on other CC's. Either companies pull out of the market entirely or raise the fees on Canadian customers.

So it is just the Amazon and Marriott Chase cards but another company bought the other chase cards out.
I wonder if Canada has the same debt forgiveness tax reg as the US. If you are forgiven debt such as a mortgage or, in this case, CC debt, that is considered taxable income.

I saw that yesterday. Too bad I'm not with Chase. Maybe the rest will follow suit.
Why? Don't you think you should pay your debts? Sorry but I don't understand the modern society where people are proud of not having to pay debts for money they choose to borrow.
But what happens to the people who have only Chase for a credit card? Will other issuers pick them up?
Another company did buy them. But not the Amazon or Marriott ones so something is up. The noose seems to be tightening on CC's in Canada. Can't be good or their economy.

They will soon introduce a new form of paying for things. It'll be a chip, implanted, and marked with tattoo or something.
Either on their right hand or their forehead.

If my cc company does the same thing (I have 2 ccs at different banks) I will think it is economy. I think that Chase is in trouble. That said, perhaps they could take my student loans too.
