He needs to be held to the new standards set by liberals who go about trying to destroy people. That crap has to fly both ways.

I do agree that it is silly, but they practically crucify anyone conservative who does less.
I really hope no one has pictures of some of my stunts from high school.

That's nice that you "don't care". But, leftist Dems care a great deal. So much so that they have no trouble destroying someone over youthful indescretions. That knife has to cut BOTH ways.

Justin Trudeau is neither a leftist, nor a rightist in America.
He is a Canadian.
I don't care.

Yes, we can impeach a pm. There is no point, however, as our elections is next month. He is also undergoing a criminal investigation for corruption - trying to get a international company off on some legal charge. I don't remember/care what.
That said, he IS a liberal. And will likely lose the election. Mostly because of the corruption and the tanking of our economy, but this just helps him look like a jackass. Doesn't help that his competition is a dark skinned south asian. Of course, his competition hasn't even spoken a word about the election in general and is a guaranteed loser.
It's too bad this is the only thing that this guy has said all election. (NDP are our central party. They cover aspects of both sides. This is generally my party, but not this election. If I could vote for JWR I would, but I'm not in her riding.
I don't see or hear the liberals being outraged over it. They are giving him a pass. Interesting about the investigation, however.
Oh no no no. He's not getting a pass. We are just quieter about our outrage, apparently. Also, only our sensationalism gets into the US news, so there's a lot you guys don't see.
And at this point, we're so used to his ... whatever you call it ... that we just roll our eyes at the next one. Hopefully he loses the next election, but our elections are different. We vote for the 'seat' in each riding, and by default the leader of the party with the most 'seats' is PM. Which is why we are hoping that the calls to step down are effective, but it doesn't look like they will be. Which sucks, because I can't vote for the most qualified candidate in my riding (liberal, even though I am NDP - card carrying member as a matter of fact) because it could result in a seat for liberals.
I have always liked being able to pick and choose between the approaches to the issues that the candidates in my riding have (they don't always toe the party line, but make their own interpretations and have their own approaches and beliefs) but now I just have to choose the one that is least likely to allow JT to get the riding's seat. I might have to move to JWR's riding. Or at least send a post card saying that I would vote for her if I could.
What would happen if Trudeau resigned mid-campaign?
It would be an unprecedented event in Canadian politics — so political scientists have been mulling over how it might play out.
They all point to the Liberal Party's constitution — which outlines what happens when a leader resigns and an interim needs to be chosen — rather than the Elections Act. A leader dropping out mid-campaign is not explicitly mentioned in the party's constitution. One section does give some guidance, though: it states the national board of directors would appoint an interim leader in consultation with caucus.
But dealing with a caucus becomes tricky after Parliament is dissolved. Kelly Blidook, who teaches political science at Newfoundland's Memorial University, said he thinks the board "technically" could name an interim leader without caucus consultation.
"But I am reasonably certain in such a case that there would be a selective consultation of senior or longtime elected Liberals," he wrote in an email.
The timeline would be incredibly tight, though — maybe impossible.
"There is simply not enough time to formally select a new leader during the campaign," said Matthew Kerby, who has taught political science at Memorial and the University of Ottawa and now teaches at Australian National University.
"Strategically, it would be a terrible idea as it would leave the party rudderless and would also be a tacit admission of defeat before election day."
What has Trudeau said about resigning?
Asked Wednesday evening if he should resign as Liberal leader, Trudeau argued that incidents like these should be approached on a "case-by-case" basis.
"There are people who make mistakes in this life and you make decisions based on what they actually do, what they did and on a case-by-case basis. I deeply regret that I did that. I should have known better, but I didn't," he said.
Asked on Thursday if he'd considered stepping aside to let someone else lead the party through the election, Trudeau did not answer directly but said he would "continue to do the work that is necessary to keep us moving forward in the right way."
All 5 parties, including his own, and most of the independent runners have come out calling for his resignation. This is small potatoes, but on top of his corruption scandal and his tossing out of the party two women who publicly disagreed with him he's kinda having a rough election.
That said. I don't think he'll resign. I think that there is a chance he will stay in power because the candidates in enough ridings will earn the vote. If the Liberals win majority seats, or even strongest minority seats, he will stay in power by default.
