When I was younger and my stomach could tolerate it, I'd eat some cold, crisp lettuce, with just a tiny bit of ranch, or whatever dressing we had. It didn't take much, it was crunchy, and filling, and I didn't feel completely guilty.
But now, if eat lettuce at any point in the day, I burp it forever.

I don't each much in the evening. And when if i have a big meal i like to eat it earlier. I don't like eating a lot later in the evening, it's uncomfortable.
You have no cheese in your house??? Or bread? Or even milk?

No, it's grocery weekend. I don't use a lot of milk. It tends to go bad before I use it. I don't keep a lot of cheese around because I will eat aaaallllll of it and call it dinner.
I also find most breads too high in sugar. I've found a few that I like, but same problem. Simply a vehicle for butter and peanut butter.

Have you tried Parmelat or Borden's
shelf stable milk? It keeps for over
six months on the shelf, and tastes
like fresh milk. Refrigerate it after
you open it, but you can always
have it on hand to go with your
cereal.

I use my freezer a lot. I freeze bread. If you find a bread you like, you could freeze part or all of the loaf. I always have bread on hand. I don't buy any bread with high fructose corn syrup. I make bread a lot. You need a bit of sugar for the yeast to chomp on but i have never made bread that calls for excessive sugar. You should be able to easily find a loaf without a lot of that.
Cheese freezes well too.
There is the shelf stable milk, that would be handy. But, once you open it, then it is like regular milk in terms of refrigerator life, but certainly might be a good option.

Me, either.
I used to could. When I was younger, it didn't bother me.
Now, I'm good with simple stuff.
Soup, cereal, very small portions.
I have small plates, and I portion my food.
I prefer a big breakfast.

I bought a loaf of marbled rye last week, my goodness, that stuff was amazing.
I love bread, and I have to be very careful or I'll eat nothing but bread.

I typically have almonds or crunchy flavored chickpeas on hand for munching.
I got some of those flavored chickpeas that were in with the nuts. I didn't like them at all! They were super dry and gagged me! To each his own! lol
Hmmmpphh
Never had dried chickpeas. I love them right out of the can, though.
I use them on salads, too.

I bought a TH bagel with cream cheese for late breakfast/early lunch today but by the time I got to work it was too close to session time and then had back to backs. Suffered through the sessions before I was supposed to meet my dad for dinner, so was somewhat placated that I had my bagel and cream cheese if I needed it at night. Then I had a surprise client book, leaving me about 3hrs short of dinner (7 instead of 4 - my dad is old, meals are early) and was super grateful that I had my bagel. Also went and got coffee and a muffin (I feel deprived without a mid-workday muffin).
Now I have to figure something out for midnight snack.
