Mom is doing fine, doctor said she can drive tomorrow, so she is determined to drive herself to the doctor. It's a semi-annual check up with her heart doctor.

The only hit the company will take is on the unemp tax rate they pay. When I last processed payroll taxes in that state just laying off one person did not impact the rate. And bringing on a replacement costs that rate X the first 10K in wages so a very minor cost to the company. If fired for reason then Trudy would have get a lawyer and there could be a settlement. Much less expensive to lay off.
