Good afternoon.

The rain has stopped for the time being, but more is coming in.

It's windy, too. It's crazy wind, it's warm, it's cold, depending on its direction, strong, too.

A large limb fell out of one of our trees, thankfully it missed everything.

This, too, shall pass.

I have no plans since our fall festival has been postponed. So I'm looking for something to do.

Happy Saturday.

Took DD shopping for a dress for Homecoming. Her bro's GF stood her up last night. Then her friend came home with us and they put up the Halloween decor, yeah we are late on that. About to take Sonny for a walk.

Took the boys to Tyson's mall for lunch and shopping. Stopped by Bath & Body works and ended up spending $100 in candles and body wash. The boys picked out candles for themselves as well. I am now enjoying #2's choice of Black Berry Merlot burning near me.

Been to Tyson's many times.  You were about 7 miles from my sis which translates to 45 minutes with traffic.

DD picked a really nice dress.  I am a bit worried about her.  She had a great time with her friend.  But friend was invited to a Halloween  party of a kid that DD knows and is friendly with.  DD was not invited.  Friend said that must be an oversight because he likes you and I can ask him if it's ok if you go.  DD made the right decision to say no.  It would be awkward for sure if she went .  But I think she is sad.

Happy Saturday! On call but managed to go do a small piece at ceramics
A little pink flamingo, can't wait to see the finished product. Had lunch with ceramics friend. It's really warm here too. We are expecting low 80's for the next few days. Right now I'm cleaning all the parts on my washer that get icky. The only thing I don't like about a front loader.
I went to bath and body works two weeks ago and the 3 wick candles were $10 off. I'm ashamed to say I bought 7. The black cherry merlot is my fav.

It never feels good to be excluded but she definitely made the right decision to decline her friend asking. It probably was an oversight.

Yea, glad  I am not a helicopter parent.  If I were, DD would be forced to go and be more miserable than she is now.  She had a great day and has plans for tomorrow.

So I'm trying a craft project. I need larger wine bottles than what I usually buy. Off to the recycling center I go dragging DD with me. To our dismay the glass dumpster has recently been emptied. Picture this. DD in dumpster upside down with me hanging onto her feet to get me a bottle to get started. I was terrified I would drop her onto some of the broken glass at the bottom.

IKWTDS, your daughter did the right thing. We all have to learn we aren't always invited to everything, and that's ok. I understand her feeling bummed. What about pizza and a movie with mom?

SB, I want to see the flamingo when it's done, please?

Sure thing lily! It usually takes a week for her to fill the kiln so I wait impatiently.

We live about 7 miles from the Tyson's Galleria which takes about 15 minutes if early am on a weekend, twice as long at rush hour.  It really has grown since the metro went in.  We rode the metro from Reston to the mall the day it opened and ended up on the news.

DD and I had a great time tonight, in my opinion. But thanks everyone.

SB Cracking up on the visual of the dumpster diving.

FNW, I know Reston very well.

We used to live across from the Town Center and near the hospital when we first got married, there are some condos that back up to the bike path, but we have lived in Vienna for 13 years.

Glad you and DD had a good time.

Funniest part of the dumpster is I really had to pee. I kept saying if she fell in I'd probably have an accident.

Didn't do too badly at the Old Town
Day Bake-off - first in desserts, and
second in sweet breads.

Instant Chocolate Mousse
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 large egg pinch salt 3/4 whole
milk, scalded 1tsp vanilla 2 Tbsp
sugar
Heat milk to scalding. Pour over
rest of ingredients in blender; whirl
on HI 1 minute, let stand 1 minute.
Pour into demitasse cups or 2 oz
plastic jiggers. Chill 3+ hours or
overnight. Decorate with whipped
cream and chocolate curls

LOUISE DAHNE’S DATE NUT BREAD
Pour 1C boiling water over 1C finely
cut dates, 1tsp baking soda, & 1Tbsp
soft butter; set aside. When cool,
add 1 beaten egg. Sift together 1½C
flour, pinch salt & ½C sugar. Add to
above. Stir in ½C chopped walnuts.
Bake in greased loaf pan in a slow
oven for 40-60 mins.
Louise Dahne was my Mother, and
she got this recipe from her Camp
Fire Girls leader in 1920! We
usually serve it with a thin film
of sweet butter or thinned cream
cheese.
