Nuts: dry pan. Put the shelled nuts in the pan, on med to med-high heat. Turn often. When the nuts become fragrant, they are done.
Chocolate: depends on what you're using.
I melt mine in the microwave, 10 to 15 seconds at a time, stirring frequently. Use glass.

Well, I give that a 60% success rate. Walnuts roasted great but are flavorless. 1st batch of salted caramel chocolate over melted and turned t glue. 2nd attempt worked out great. Semi-sweet chocolate turned out great. BUT, pretzel sticks turned out to be the super short ones, so they really look more like matchsticks.
To toast/roast nuts, put them
in a non-stick pan that has
been pre-heated on the stove
top for about 3 min. Use a
medium heat, and toast the
nuts for about 30-45 seconds,
at which point you should be
able to smell them EXCEPT
if the nuts are old, in which
case they will never become
fragrant. Take them off the
heat, and arrange on a paper
towel to cool.

Snyder's make a very passable
line of pretzels - knots, twists, rods,
and sticks. Their sticks usually hold
up very well when dipped in melted
chocolate, and then rolled in nuts.
When using the larger rods, I break
them in half, and cover the broken
end in the chocolate and nuts.
If used unbroken, there is too
much pretzel and not enough
chocolate for a realistic treat.
