DD and I will open presents tonight. She is going to her father's tomorrow. I have to make a side dish for tomorrow and have a couple of errands to do, nothing major. I am certainly not going toward the mall.

Oh so true! Or even go to their compound! Ugh. Next year DH wants us to volunteer to place wreaths at Arlington Cemetery. If I go, I'll give Teddy's cross a swift kick.
Took the leap and cut the cable. Took the boxes to the cable company and updated my router while I was at it. Just spent an hour resetting all my smart stuff. I just got a smart tv yesterday so everything had to be redone. Even had to reset my smart plug.
On the bright side I had a reason to pull out tv and bookshelf and clean behind them.
Finished the side I was making. I hope it's good reheated tomorrow. Lady I hired to bake an eggnog bunt cake just dropped it off. So done for prep. Told DD no gift opening until laundry is still in livingroom. Laundry done. I may have to visit the liquor store....

I have Netflix and the fire stick. I may keep the fire stick since it is included in Amazon prime but netflix is not all that great. Most movies and shows can be found on YouTube. I may look at Hulu. Love being cable free.

The tv has fire stick integrated. So not only did I get rid of the cable, I got rid of the cords required with the old fire stick. Also, I took down the sound bar since this tv had incredible sound all on it's own.
We have a landline. It's digital, so it's bundled with our cable. We do have a chrome casting stick and apple TV, too. And a couple smart TVs. DH just plugged in our alexa plug to my christmas lights so I don't have to reach over the sofa to plug and unplug. Of course, now we'll be taking them down in a week.

Totally having a fire tonight. Told DD she had to bring in more wood. Also, she has to get her clean laundry out of the living room. Hate the untidy mess. We will make dinner and open gifts.

No fire for us. No heat, either. It's a very warm and humid 66 here.
We still have a landline, too.
There have been times, during severe weather, when we could not call cell phone to cell phone, but landline to cell phone was fine. As was cell to landline.
I went to the grocery store with Caitlyn to get odds and ends. It was fun. Everyone was so pleasant. I love this time of year.

We still have a land line as well. DH refuses to use a cell phone and he would loose it within two days anyway. He's already lost 5 pedometers in the last 3 months.
A pie is in the oven and have one meat/cheese/cracker tray to make yet for a soup supper tonight.
Will need wine afterwards..

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
So tonight it's just our immediate family. But I decided we need to be festive anyway.

Sounds like everyone is having a great day! Supposed to go to dinner with a friend but she's on call and had to go in for a case. I'm patiently waiting. This is our life, lol.
Christmas prep is done on my end. Friend visits all done or scheduled. Parents on their way here for Eve dinner. Salad stuff in a bowl (I'll make actual salad later. Pie frozen and ready to go into the oven. Biscotti baked. Cappuccino maker accessible and warmed up. Parents on their way. Dog walked. Whew. Ready.
I've not had cable for almost 10 years. I just got rid of Netflix. Nothing interesting and all their originals were either for teens or dumb. Just got Crave and am not super impressed. Might jump to Prime.
Just did Christmas present opening and had DS on Facetime. Scaled it back this year and it was perfect. Although DS did get a lot more just due to the purchase of his house so indulged. DD loved everything. Sonny did too, as did I. Just a nice night. Watching Rudolph.
